[Taichi's taken to hiding out in his treehouse for the day, so who knows if Raine will think to check there. Instead, he'll respond with an answer.]

So why's he so negative anyway?

[She knows there's no other place he's likely to be, even in this cold weather. She's not happy about it, but it's not as if she can really force him to do anything else. She probably did get him warm clothing for Christmas, anyway. This isn't a conversation she wants to have with him over the books, but until she can check on him properly, she'll respond.]

He doesn't trust people... and he doesn't want to, either. He lost someone who was very close to him, and has let those emotions guide him ever since.

He's had this grudge for ... many, many years. It's not one he has any intention of changing. Time will only tell if being in Luceti will have a positive effect on him... but it's a questionable possibility.
