No Jew coke for me. I've been scoping the Manischewitz aisle for weeks now, and all they have is offbrand knockoff cola in cans at my local Stop and Hell. Which is all well and good because I gave up caffiene this month, but I am still disappointed.
I'm not much for caffiene at any other time. I like it because it's a nice seasonal treat. If I were to swear off caffiene, this would not be the time of year I did it.
You know who I feel sorry for? The people who live in places where they can get that sugar-sweetened Mexican Coke any time. It takes the special out of it. Or maybe I'm just trying to convince myself of that. But I think I'm not.
Because it's funny. And regular Coke is kosher except at Passover, so "kosher for Passover Coke" is cumbersome. "Jew Coke" is a reference to "New Coke," which was horrible, the exact opposite of Jew Coke. None of my Jewish friends take offense, though none are nearly as excited by it as I am.
