I'd agree with your assertion, but not with your explanation. I'm from Buffalo, remember? So I think we both know that if you don't shovel out your driveway as it comes, it's a LOT harder to shovel out the frozen-on-frozen layers. So even though you'll have to do it again, the fact that you've attended to it at the right time in the right manner means that in the end, it will be less work. No one said "in the right time in the right way" meant it wouldn't be any work ;)
