This morning, I dreamt that I was participating in an annual bear hunt for my second time. I was given the task of explaining the process of hunting, and specifically the virtues of the sawed-off shotgun, to a young new hunter. Definitely prescriptive, for I was thoroughly concerned about the prospect of missing the bear, and considered it within the realm of likely occurrences.

I wouldn't want to use a sawed-off shotgun for bear hunting, myself... they're devastating at close range but very inaccurate over long distances. So you'd have to let the bear get close to you to maximize the effectiveness of the weapon and who wants that, really? Not that I have any desire to shoot an animal that's done me no wrong anyhow, but....

I believe my dream was more concerned with making a Doom reference than the technical accuracy involved, which is odd considering how the rest of the dream was factual and cautionary in nature.

I don't have any desire to shoot a bear myself, I suspect the whole dream was an elaborate metaphor to something bearlike in danger, but far less tangible.
