Lesson Three | Destiny | Open/Voice

Mar 18, 2010 22:13

For every day of life, there is a lesson to be learned. So many seem so bent on hurt and anger, and perhaps this is their destiny, but such things are like threads as yet unwoven. True, the pattern is set, but it is not too late to alter it.

Many meet their destinies on the path they take to avoid it.

Be mindful of your actions. Seek to avoid ( Read more... )

You really couldn't possibly be speaking to a more inappropriate demographic.

Speaking inappropriately is a lifelong ambition of mine that I have fulfilled time and again.

[He's cheerful about it, at any rate.]

Of course, even in the face of certain defeat, a true warrior cannot simply lay down and submit, hmm?

[You are a weird old man, old man.]

That depends on your definition of "true warrior." As far as I'm aware, the only difference between a "true" warrior and a false one is whether or not they actually wage some type of war.

Battle comes in many forms, not the least of which require no weapons at all. A true warrior is one who behaves as one.

It is not for everyone.

[seek to avoid before you seek to strike]

[Have a suddenly, and very, interested Don]

How have you come to these conclusions?

Oohh... [He scratches at his chin- it's audible due to his scaly nature and long claws.]

It was some time ago. I came to a valley where there were no warriors at all, only a raucous and noisome people who shouted at each other from dawn to dusk. Even so, there was never any bloodshed, and never any war, never any fighting at all, beyond the shouting. Perhaps this was also a source of many injustices.

Even so, there is merit to this kind of harmony, to defend only.

[that was a weird sound, but Don doesn't comment. He's focused on the words instead.]

I suppose so. Though without offensive actions taken occasionally, things would likely rapidly deteriorate. If no one were willing to lash out, nothing would ever get done, and nothing would change. Even if their methods leave something to be desired.

[Raph and Leo. Case and point.]

Are you a warrior?

In many ways, I am...

[He seems to trail off, pondering that for a minute]

And in as many, I am not. It is not so important, to define oneself as one way or another. The ocean will not change its nature if you call it by a different name. I am a teacher, as well.

What is your name, young one?

Sounds ideal. Like something Prime would say.

Does it? Hmm, I shall have to take dat into consideration.

[beat]

Who is Prime?

Yeah, but I don't think real life works that way. It'll be nice if it did though.

Prime's my leader. He used to say: Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.

[He chuckles and answers in the same tone an indulgent father would use when explaining to his teenage daughter exactly how much she's going to pay out of pocket to fix the dent she put in his car.]

If you do not think there is benefit to avoiding killing when you possibly can, then perhaps you should rethink why you were brought into the world in the first place.

Somehow, I don't think the people you're talking about spend much of their time on embroidery.

[He chuckles]

Calligraphy, actually.

[Well now the destiny metaphor is completely lost on her. No wait, it may have been lost on her to begin with. But hey, she'll go with it.]

You think if we got Princess Cuckoo to sit down with ink and a brush, she'd solve some of her anger issues?

wiserthanusall March 19 2010, 17:53:00 UTC
Perhaps.

[He thinks a moment]

Then again, perhaps not. Do you have any better ideas?

I--I-I like your approach, Master Oogway.

Oh? Dat's nice.

[He seems honestly pleased, rather than sarcastic.]

It is also practical. One does not waste resources, no matter the goal.
