Riverdale
- Um, so by the time I finished watching Gotham, my interest in this show had waned. I'm not sure if it's because the penultimate episode felt a bit of a doozy, or something, but oh well.
- I am kind of left baffled that Veronica/Archie became canon by the end. TBH, the Archie/Betty vibes kind of weirded me out a little -- and if you wanted to say that Archie was maybe developing feelings for Betty, it... probably shouldn't be at the expense of ditching Veronica. Veronica/Archie isn't a couple that I can see lasting a long time, but, it'll be interesting to see what happenes next.
- Betty/Jughead. OH MY GOODNESS? I WAS MAYBE EXPECTING "I LOVE YOU"S, I WAS DEFINITELY NOT EXPECTING ALMOST SEX. INTERRUPTED SEX. Like, I AM SCREECHING. Also: terrific music choice, but oh my god. That was way more than I ever thought would happen between the two. I'm.., not entirely sure what to take away from the last scene -- whether Betty is worried that Jughead will be a Serpent, having accepted the jacket, but I really want Betty to find out that Alice was once a Cooper.
- Also! Alice having a son! I wondered what they'd do with Chic Cooper, but I assumed that Alice had terminated the pregnancy, instead of had him in secret..
- I certainly didn't expect Clifford Blossom to be the murderer. I'm still worried for Cheryl Blossom, because Penelope Blossom is an awful parent!!!
- I love that the Blossoms and Coopers are cousins! I didn't predict that at all, and really, Hal Cooper, you should have told your family, it would have saved SO MUCH DRAMA. It was kind of worth it, though, just to see Hal Cooper flatout state "what is wrong with you?" to the Blossoms. Because seriously.
- I doubt Fred Andrews is going to die. But I would like to see more Mary Andrews in the future!
- Hermione Lodge's characterization seemed a little... off in the last episode? It could be related to Hiram, IDK. But, I think they upped the manipluating ante a bit too much?
Doctor Who
- I liked the majority of Oxygen, and thought it had a terrific ending. It's just. I didn't like how neatly the conflict got tied up when 12 said "now it's more expensive for us to DIE!" and... just like that, the threat's over? IDK, it felt incredibly anticlimatic and unsatisfying that that was all that had to be said for the episode to be suspenseful. I think my other issue was that it had a really interesting ideas, and they were too crammed in -- like the blue alien!!!! More of him would have been great!!
- Thin Ice was a great episode, and I really loved Bill and 12's interactions in this one.
- Knock Knock was mostly great! I'd actually seen one of the actors in the play Snow In Midsummer -- which was a super interesting play! it was a modernized Chinese drama and it was very murder mystery with tons of plot twists -- in DW, he played Harry, and it was fun to see him again! I thought the episode sort of derailed when it was revealed that David Suchet's character was the son of Eliza, not the father, and never quite recovered, But still, it did make me feel relieved that my student days are over.
- I do wonder how long 12 is going to be blind for? If it's the rest of the season, that would be interesting, but I can easily see it lasting only as far as the next episode just as much TBH.
Gotham
- PENGUIN AND RIDDLER REUNITING. SO MUCH INTENSITY. SO MANY EMOTIONS. SUCH LONG STARES. It was so hard to breathe during that scene, oh my god. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING THROUGH THEIR HEADS. To see Oswald go from shrieking at the guard to pure silence and stillness when Edward says his name, and then approaches him with such... simmering. Like, Oswald and Edward are clearly stunned and both in shock, but still-- the lunge was still chilling. (Also, Edward's gasp. How is he so good at gasping?)
- NEXT EPISODE THEY'RE GOING TO BREAK OUT OF PRISON AND JUST!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!! THAT'S SUCH A ROMANTIC TROPE, AND I KNOW I DON'T WANT TO GET MY HOPES UP, BUT I GENUINELY CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM GETTING MY HOPES UP. THE PICTURES FOR NEXT EPISODE HAVE ALREADY SHOWN THEM TO BE GRINNING AND COVERED IN BLOOD, AND ED'S HAPPY. I CAN SO EASILY IMAGINE OSWALD BEING HAPPY TOO. EVENTUALLY. AFTER HE'S KILLED SOMEONE.
- Gosh, I'm so nervous. I want them so badly to be happy forever and ever, but them both being villains... puts that into some question into how long it'll last. But if they can be villain boyfriends!!! That would be a dream come true.
- IVY AND SELINA!! I've missed them so much! I just really love their interactions and how Ivy does care about Selina, PLANT MEDICINE TO THE RESCUE! Also, it was great to see that the plant pheromones also work on women!
- Look, while I might not appreciate the changes they did to Jervis Tetch, aka, making him incestuous towards his sister Alice (and, other implications), I actually kind of like everything else about him. I do like that he is a genuinely terrifying villain in his own right, and he's good at hypnosis, and he speaks in rhyme, and he makes a newspaper hat, and can't help but taunt people. I find him very engaging and always love seeing him on screen.
- I LOVED JIM AND PENGUIN'S MOMENTS TOGETHER. From his complete lack of surprise to seeing Penguin not being dead, to him giving Penguin three minutes to save him, Jim. I've missed their interactions so much!
- It's incredibly likely that Lee Thompkins is going to be Harley Quinn, so they have to come up with a cure soon, right? Since Lee Thompkins is integral to the Batman lore? The hints of the Alice virus making her darker and darker are making me so nervous!
- I can't wait to see Barnes meet Jim again. I always love Michael Chiklis and always think he's giving this show 100% whenever he's in a scene. And the 2x19 promo looks so great for him! (I always see him as the bumbling soft and goofy dad in No Ordinary Family instead of Ben Grimm, so seeing him play his... uh, typical character, is always a surprise for me, but no surprise, he's excellent at it.)
- Hugo Strange may be an awful person, but BD Wong gives him such charm, it's hard to hate him. I really want to know how he got transferred from Fish Moony to Court of Owl's prison, though?
