Before she'd opened the door, Grigg had been a bit of a mess. It wasn't like he had never gone on a date before, but this was a girl he liked, not some stranger whom he was being set up with.
Giving his hair one last nervous run through with his hands, taking a deep breath and grinning from ear to ear. "Hey," he said, stepping back to let her out the door. "You look great."
Faced with him now, Eden smiled a little wider, nerves somewhat soothed. Whatever the change in circumstances, it was just Grigg. They'd find a way to make things work out, whatever that wound up meaning.
"Thanks," she said, closing the door behind her. In spite of her apparent calm, her hands twisted at the hem of her shirt. "So do you."
Resisting the urge to tuck his shirt in as a last-ditch attempt to neaten himself up, he shrugged giving it a full pass.
Hitching his thumb in the direction he'd come, he smiled. "Thanks. Are you ready to go?" Pausing he changed his pointing to back inside. "Or do you need to get something?"
"Oh, no, I'm ready," Eden said, nodding as she started walking. The only things really left indoors were the dog and cat, and there was no way in hell that pair was coming along for the ride.
Letting him lead the way, she bit her lip, hands swinging at her sides. "Fair warning," she said, "I haven't done this in a while. I'm kind of rusty at this whole dating thing."
