Ye Olde Awesomes

This past weekend got to go to the MD Ren Faire with a bajillion awesome friends! I drove a carful of kids (me, Mer, Lyndsey, Trillian) up to MD on Friday night, cleverly just ignoring the GPS as it tried time and again to have us drive directly through DC instead of along 495, and making it up to Jmacs new apartment safely, getting to hang out with her and Allie and Jmac's two (?) roommates. Delightful!

The next morning Russ showed up and made everyone crepes. Yeah for seeing Russ! It's been two years since the last time, sheesh. Then JessJess made it up and we headed off to Faire. KT and Chester met us there and the gang wandered around, looking at shinies, watching shows, and eating ridiculous food on a stick.

Ended up not actually seeing KT and Chester or JessJess much of the time somehow, due to the magic of wandering faire, but did a bit at least.

Saturday night was more fun times and Jmacs, and Sunday morning bright and early back to VA. Overall, a very lovely and fun weekend! Need to see all of these kids more often!

Also in recent fun and exciting news, I adopted a kitten! She's so cute! Her name is Amalthea, or Thea for short. All she wants to do is sit in your lap and be loved and it's sooo sweet! I felt really bad leaving her all alone for two whole days and she ate sooo much food while I was gone it was a bit ridiculous. Course, I also only just got her up to an appropriate weight. When I got her from the SPCA she was 2.5 pounds and almost 5months. Now she's just over 3 pounds and the vet finally felt comfortable giving her her vaccines. Still working on getting Mer's two adult cats to accept her. Eta especially is pissed with us having a kitten in the house, and actually often acts afraid of Thea.

Still don't have the pyrometer that I ordered in June, but in theory it is currently being calibrated and will be sent to me soon. Until then I should be reading papers instead of writing here, but boy do those papers keep putting me to sleep.
