Character name: Monou Fuuma, more commonly known as "Kamui"
Fandom: X/1999
Timeline: Volume 19 aka 18.5, the Final Battle
Age: 17
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
Wish reading: Quite like mind reading, only he can read the wishes of those he talks to (in person). He will have the compulsion to "grant" them, of course, but will not do so unless the person knows what their true wish is, or unless he thinks they are capable of granting it themselves. (ex. If someone truly wants to die, "Kamui" will kill them himself, or protect/spare them if they truly want to live) Because of this, there are times he can tell a lot about the person, because wishes can reflect who they are.
(Addendum to the above power: Hallucinations: Also while being spoken to, whether in person or over the video settings, Fuuma will briefly resemble the most important person to them, as deep in their hearts they wish to see their most important person all the time. He cant control this, but he is very much aware of it when it happens, and can even see who the other person is seeing.)
Increased muscle power: He can run fast, leap tall buildings in a single bound! very high, and even deliver a good kick or punch. He can easily kill someone with his signature move- by stabbing a hand through the victim's chest. It can only be employed when he manages to tire the opponent out to his level or lower. This is also how he usually grants wishes of those who want to die-- fast and generally painless. ... Just very, very bloody.
"Kamui" abilities: The powers given to each one bearing the name "Kamui", which is mainly the manipulation of his surroundings with his mind- or in lay man's terms, telekinesis of sorts (all the Dragons have these abilities, but lesser, and tied to a specific field). It's very powerful, and almost limitless, once he puts his mind to it (for example, he made sodas into bombs). He's also given a high tolerance for pain, and the classic Chi no Ryuu ability to enter kekkai (though not leave them). He's also known to enter the dreams of the Chi no Ryuu's dreamseer, Kakyou-- or any dream, really-- and even manipulate them as he pleases.
High-speed regeneration: Injuries heal very quickly for "Kamui". He's known to have healed in a matter of hours from a near-fatal wound that barely missed his heart.
Others: Fuuma is good in physical exertion, being a former athlete, so his increased muscle power is not wasted on him. He's also naturally competent when using his sword, the Shinken, as seen with the few chapters in the Final Battle.
How would they use their abilities?: Mostly to benefit himself. He hardly uses his powers outside of battle because of destructive qualities, but if he finds that something needs powers to say, be moved from a corridor, then he'll move it so he can pass through. Of course, his powers will be toned down for the game because even with his incredible amount of self control we wouldn't want unexpected explosions. Also, he wont be going around granting wishes, unless I obtain permission from a mun to have fun with their character (why would they even--).
Appearance:
The school uniform, the sword, and the sister. More school uniform, plus feathers and pretty red Final Battle cloak. Also, coming from a small bit of headcanon, he has a scar on his left shoulder that's also visible from behind, just above his heart, where
Kamui stabbed him. Height: 6'10", give or take a few inches. So he's pretty freaking tall.
Clothing-wise, "Kamui" seems to favor anything from simple shirts and sneakers to the more fashionable and flashy trenchcoats and boots, plus the trademark sunglasses that he always wears, even at night. His glasses don't really dampen the glow from his eyes when he's concentrated or excited about something though, so no one really knows why he's wearing them aside from making himself look really cool.
And another bit of headcanon, he brings those glasses around with him wherever he goes, even if they're not on him-- they're just in his pocket, ready to be used any time.
Background/Personality:
Link to his whole history, because it's long, and so full of twists and turns to be properly incorporated into the rest of this.
Fuuma is generally a very kind person, and an even better son, brother and friend. He's the type of boy who would carry grandmothers' groceries while helping them across the street, and girls would dearly love to bring home to their parents. That's Monou Fuuma, star basketball player, teen heartthrob.
All this changes when he becomes "Kamui" of the Dragons of Earth though, as a twin star or double of the real Kamui. His best friend's decision (influenced by Fuuma's father's death and Fuuma's sister's madness) to save the earth and join the Dragons of Heaven makes destiny start to work and warp Fuuma's mind, and the boy becomes a very, very frightening person. At first glance he's polite, a little playful, and with a funny way of speaking, like he's hardly ever surprised at anything, and he seems to know it all-- whatever "it" is, because he's just so vague. He constantly has a smile on his face, whether speaking, walking, teasing, laughing or even fighting. That smile only moves to change in dimension to suit the situation, and can become true or faked any time.
The good part? No matter what the smile is, you'll never find out, and he will constantly creep you out, whether you like it or not. The way he speaks, the way he acts, the way his mind works (if you can get into his incredibly complex mind that is) will constantly elude and surprise people, making them a little wary of interacting with him. That and he can be a little physical when showing his emotions- he can hug someone, he can badtouch someone. No, really.
He's very charismatic as well, because he just has this kind of allure to him that will make people listen to him. One thing "Kamui" knows very well how to do is deal with people. If caught in the act, no matter what it is, he can talk his way out of it. He can manipulate people to do what he wants, when he wants, if he ever feels like it. Even in casual conversations, he's able to charm people-- even when he doesn't mean it. How can he say the right thing, even to complete strangers? He just knows what to say and how to say it, by studying them and learning what kind of person they are.
Just be very, very careful around him. While he is still very kind to people, he can be very cruel in battle, keeping that smile all the while. He can be viewed as heartless, seeing as he had killed one of his own in battle merely to fulfill that person's wish. There are also times when he will speak of a person's a wish out loud, not caring if others will hear, and even press the matter until, eventually, he or she has one he will be able to grant. And there are times when he is outright serious, the smile wiped off his face, looking and acting as the bringer of death he's made out to be.
Most, if not all, of his drive to simply live and operate comes from his destiny of being the other "Kamui". Since Kamui's birth was foretold, and Fuuma was simply born to complement him, "Kamui" is dedicated to Kamui, albeit in a rather dark way. He also moves events along as he sees them coming, and as destiny and the earth demands it, because he knows what the world wants-- to be reborn, and that's what he knows he should do.
And yet his complete change in personality is not totally his own doing. Destiny (and perhaps even the real Kamui), as strange as it sounds, may be attributed to that. Underneath all that negativity brought on by his position, his good side still lives, as shown with his fleeting sadness after killing the clone Nataku whom he calls his son, and on the way to the Final Battle, or even his of urging a little girl to leave a district before he proceeds to destroy it (though he used her wish of "not wanting to die" as an excuse). He's still human, a kid even, not god, even if he is viewed as "he who chases the majesty of God". He has a soft spot for children and younger people, and a sweet tooth that can make him the best customer in any candy shop-- the 'evil' side that he shows is something that the other Kamui has hidden deep inside. In short, he reflects all the bad things within his former best friend, being his twin star and other self, and makes them his own.
Long story short, nothing is ever simple, especially with Fuuma. Or rather, "Kamui".
Have you read up on how the game works?: The guide plugin is "FlamingFerret", and "Kamui" can go off and do the missions, leech off of people, or even put up his own business. ... Who'd want to go to a business set up by him anyway?
1st person sample:
... huh. Interesting.
It's funny how things seem to happen, just like that, and not as planned. Either no ones has seen this one coming, or they simply neglected to let us know about it. [There goes a soft laugh, before the kid starts stretching to work out the kinks in his body.
... He's totally going ":|" about this whole thing in his head. That's why his smile is so vibrant today.]
And there I was, with what I had to do, with everything all prepared. I was ready to depart, myself. [That wide smile turns into a small, rueful one for a moment there.] But at least I know that some things are still with me, over here.
Now, I'm here for a reason. [Grin for the network!] May I know what it is?
3rd person sample:
"Everything's taking form according to your dreams, isn't it? Now you have to understand that since I have this form, that means the end is coming soon. In reality, the dream you just saw has already happened. Soon, I will make your wish come true."
Those were his last words to Kakyou- or at least supposed to be his last words. When Kakyou had asked him, "Will your wish come true?" several memories passed through his mind, and the nostalgia accompanying them had most likely shown on his face. That was a mistake, allowing himself a moment to become "Fuuma" again. But as quickly as he had appeared, "Kamui" placed "Fuuma" where he belonged, at the back of his head, back into that sleep he should not have woken up from.
Or, in short, he had no idea how to answer that question. He had so many answers to so many things, but when it came to him... he had nothing. In fact, he himself did not know his own wish, the same way the Kamui of the Seals didn't know his own. It was so ironic it could burn.
But there was no more time for thinking of the past, or himself It was the final battle after all- he had to fulfill his duty to the earth, and that was to fulfill its wish of destroying the humans and create a whole new world out of the old. He took up his Shinken, and led the Dragons of Earth to the site of the Final Battle, to face the other Kamui and those of Heaven. Even though Kakyou had already seen the outcome, he would not let anything get past him and his goal.
Who knows? Life and destiny loved being unpredictable, and, if through some reason or way the Seals' Kamui had managed to finalize his wish, this "Kamui" would be defeated and wiped out.
They exchanged words, and "Kamui" could see the other's disposition becoming more and more angered. He could help but stoke the fire even more, confusing the other, pressing him even more to make the wrong decision on choosing his true wish. And when that happens-- and it most definitely will-- "Kamui" would make it come true, and fulfill the earth's wish in the process. He was sure of that, no matter what happened, no matter what the other did. "Kamui" was ready-- as he had been since his awakening, all those months ago.
Questions?: Nope, don't think so.
