stupid stupid stupid

I hate cold. I hate Maryland. It's too expensive. And I hate Maryland drivers and stupid Maryland people who've only ever lived in Maryland because they think two inches of snow is a lot of snow, worth delaying/closing schools and kirking out and spending a boat-load of money at the grocery store because they "might get snowed in!" Not to ( Read more... )

There are some parts of MD that redeem themselves at least...

We can get a foot of snow in Frostburg and they won't close the campus. And its cheap here. Unfortunately there's still the Maryland driver factor and its usually pretty cold...but hey 2 out of 4 ain't bad, right? :-D

i don't give a crap over whether or not they close the schools really, it's the whole flipping out over nothing that bugs me. a foot of snow would be a welcome thing in many of the areas i've lived in that are used to a LOT of snow in one day. besides, it's still cold, and it's western maryland and some people out there are a little on the strange side...

"some people out there are a little on the strange side..." I'm not that strange, I swear! haha In all seriousness though...you're only too right. I've worked with some of them. >_<

I totally agree with you about them flipping out over nothing, though I tend to find it more amusing than frustrating. :)

Oh...and a good reason why Western MD wins: Rum and Coke is a buck seventy five! :-D

well since i don't drink rum anymore that isn't exactly a complete plus, unless vodka and OJ is just as cheap.

you're allowed to like it here! obviously there are going to people who like or absolutely love this state....i'm just not one of them! i think some of this may also have to do with the fact that i tend to enjoy moving to new areas where i don't know anyone, and i've been in one state for ten years.

I'm seriously just as excited about snow as the kids are... free day for teachers!!!!! I honestly was thinking the schools would cancel school on Monday. But... unfortuneately, no... Oh well!
The cold weather really sucks though... and it is really expensive.
xo love! I had fun on your big bday bash! :)

i was actually a little surprised that no counties closed the schools. i do think it's funny though that you have a job where you could end up with a day off and not have the company take it out as a personal, vacation, or sick day! and what other job, besides a government job, would you have where you could actually hope for a snow day? hehe. remember, keep thinking about that offer! i will bug you periodically, so get used to it! lol. think of all the partying on the weekends, like normal post-college twentysomethings!

I hate maryland too. I thought it was hell after I moved there from the paradise that is Oregon. You should consider moving west! :-) I think California would suit your personality and career very well!

awww, thanks! my only issue with california is the high cost of living....but i suppose if i were eventually making big bucks on the east coast, there'd be even bigger bucks on the west coast!

it's the little voice in the back of my head saying "let the company pay for it" that's making me lean towards renewing my lease for another year and eventually moving on whatever company's dollar to some new place. i'm sure within two years maximum i'll be out of maryland and in a warmer climate...though i guess if i were living in SoCal i might want to bring a winter coat for a freak snow shower! and i'm secretly hoping that at this point, my district manager is realizing that i can't stay an MIT forever!
