Congrats! How exciting for you!! And that solves your roommate/apt problem too. Fantastic!
Let me know how getting your cat declawed goes... I really want a cat but Eliot insists it has to be declawed because he is worried about his hands/instruments getting scratched. I really don't want to do it, but soft paws seems like such a hassel...please let me know how much it costs and if it hurts your kitty! :-(
Lame! I wrote this huge long comment and it deleted it! Weird.
Anyway, the long and short of what I had to say is you're probably right that laser surgery is the way to go and with a trusted vet. The soft paws thing seems like waaay too much work, especially if we may have kids in a few years. I don't want them to get scratched, and I want Eliot to feel like he can play with the cat without getting mangled!
Thanks for your advice on the subject... their might be more questions when I actually get a cat!
Please give lluvy a scratch for me and best of luck with the car ride/surgery. Keep me posted!
feel free to ask me any kitty-related questions that might come up. i've had three cats total in my life, though i wouldn't call myself an expert. most of my "silly" questions about kitties require me calling my aunt! also, one of my favorite communities ever is kittypix, but don't even think about asking declawing questions - there are some people who just don't know when to keep their mouths shut or don't bother to understand the situation. people post pictures and questions about their kitties all the time there, so you'll always get different ideas and opinions about behavioral issues, food, etc.
it looks as though i won't be able to take lluvy to PA for a couple more weeks. my aunt has too much going on this week, so i may go next week if i can swing it or when my mom is on spring break so that the kitty can get all the rest she needs (and have someone to keep an eye on her when i'm not home!).
Sounds like you know what you are doing with the surgery and are taking lots of precautions. Your kitties are very lucky. :-) i can't wait to have one of my own!
