STEP ONE

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ (and link it here, OR post it direct to this community). The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

Surf around this community, or your friendslist (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. Once a wish has been granted, it will be crossed off my list.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Donate something this year, whether it be your time or money to whatever charity you'd like. It can be as simple as going to your local food panrty and helping out.

2. Be courteous. A weird wish I know, but I implemented this idea on my life this year with great success. Every day I try to do something nice for someone. Holding the door open or letting a car out into rush hour traffic or smiling and saying thank you. You'd be surprised at how much these things can improve a day.

3.I recently became a fan of the Japanese pop group Arashi. So I'd love anything that has to do with them. Post a link to your favorite video clip or favorite picture. If you have any items (CDs, magazines, dramas, etc.) involving the group that you know longer want sending them my way would make me the happiest girl in the world.

4. On that note I'd love some music. Anything that's not in English so rec me your favorites. I'm particularly looking for good Chinese and French stuff.

5. Natural Yarn. I'd love to try knitting something with some natural fibers. So if you purchased something that you no longer like or didn't use I'd love to have it. I want to make a nice warm hat for the winter. Color does not matter.

6. An icon would be nice. Arashi, Project Runway, Numb3rs, an Alphonse Mucha icon would be awesome, or any kind of art related icon. Animated would be really cool.

7. Book recs. I'm particularly looking for anything thats good in fantasy.

8. I'd love to get my hands on some graphic novels that most brick and mortar bookstores don't carry with any regularity anymore. Particularly Banana Fish Vol. 1 and up, Basara Vol. 1 and up, and Boy's Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango) Vol. 1 up, and Akira Vol 2 and up. Used copies would be wonderful.

9. The strength to get through next semester. It's going to be tough with four of my five classes very project heavy, I've got two classes back to back twice a week with a professor I dislike, on top of that Public Speaking, and a three hour Art History class once a week.

10. For everyone to have a safe and happy year. I know family can be hard to deal with in the holiday season and all of the Christmas shopping can quickly get frustrating, but try to be kind to one another. :)

I can be reached at rabid_bat_eep @ hotmail. com for my address. If you are emailing please try to include your screen name so I know who you are.
