Last week I had a dream that I haven't been able to stop thinking about. It bothers me to no end, and I hate the fact that I had this dream to begin with.
So I wrote this.
Maybe no one will understand the entire story behind it, one or two of you might. I just needed to get it out.

Alexis woke up from a pleasant sleep. She had been having such a good dream too, it left her feeling light and in a good mood.
She got up and started down the hall towards the bathroom.
Then she stopped in her tracks.
The dream…why had she been dreaming about him?
Why now, after so many months, after all but forgetting him?
Had he been dreaming of her, or even thinking of her? She did have a strong belief in the power of the human psyche.
Perhaps it was all the stress of school, and she needed an escape.
But him?
There?
Like it had been back then.
September was a close encounter. It took her forever to get over him. And just when she thought she had…BAM! There he was again, and saying things, doing stuff that made him unforgettable.
Sometime between then and now, she had managed to forget, she had fallen out, pushed him aside, all thoughts of him from her mind.
And here he was again, for no real reason.
Every second she was awake, the details of the dream slipped from her grasp.
All but him.
He was clearer than sun in dead waters. She felt nothing for him now, it had been a fling, and only because of her competitive nature, and want for things she knew she shouldn’t, or couldn’t, have.
She had ‘loved’ him because she had read too many romance stories, and wished that maybe something like that could happen to her.
She saw it now for what it was.
Or did she?
She called in sick to school, and spent the majority of her day laying in bed.
Had he been thinking of her? Why would he do that? Why would he reach out to her like this?
Why now?
She stared at the list of numbers tacked up on her wall.
Her mom would kill her.
Meh.
She picked up her phone and dialed the long-distance number.
“Hello?”
She froze at the sound of his voice.
“Hello?”
“You fucking ass.”
“Who the hell is this?”
“Who the hell do you think?”
“What the…Alex?”
“One in the same love.”
“Why are you calling me?”
“Have you been thinking about me lately?” Alexis asked. She had no time for idle chit-chat.
“What?”
“You heard me.”
“I--”
“Yes or no question Mavie, not that hard to answer.”
“Yes.”
Alex fell silent. She had been expecting it, but what she would say wasn’t planned.
“Alex?”
“You fucking ass.”
She opted for repeating her opening statement.
“What has gotten into you?”
“You, fucking invading my dreams, ruining my day! It was a good fucking dream too!”
Mavrick was silent.
So was she, for several long minutes.
“I’m coming down soon,” Mavrick said softly.
“I don’t care.”
“I wanted to see you.”
“Why?”
“I need a reason?”
“We’re not exactly the best of friends.”
“We’re close.”
“Hardly.”
“Oh?”
“You don’t ever call me,” Alexis said, after a short pause.
“I’m supposed to?”
“If we were close, yeah! You call Azzy.”
“Arizona calls me mostly.”
“I still hate you.”
“Why?”
“Because! You had me feeling the most false feelings ever! I’m fucking 17, I don’t need to deal with that shit!”
“My plane lands at 11:30, June 4th.”
“So?”
“I want you to be there.”
“What about Azzy?”
“What about her?”
“Destiny?”
“We broke up, remember?”
“Why me?”
“Why not.”
“You fucking ass.”
“That’s the third time you’ve said that.”
“Shut up.”
“I’ll see you on the fourth.”
“No you won’t.”
“Bye Lexi,”
Alexis hung up the phone, growling in anger. She hated him so much right now because he was right.
She hated herself because she let herself trip over her own feet again.
That phone call hadn’t gone as planned.
That fucking ass.
