Dusty: Dusty had played along with Zee’s little show. He was a terrible liar when it came down to it, she knew exactly what the angel was dragging her in to. She wasn’t sure if she should, Noxy seemed rather upset over Rick’s disappearance, and Raphael didn’t seem too keen on spending time with her. But she figured she might as well humour the little angel of death before he was around her house every day pestering her about it. She waited patiently as Zee assured her Bran would bring Raph and she wouldn’t look retarded standing around. Dusty scoffed at the thought. Even if she stood around for fifteen minutes, she could easily entice someone to come and spend time with her, who did Zee think she was? A lonely old hag? Please. The angel had shoved some movie tickets into her hand before vanishing. Dusty sighed and sat down on the benches to wait for Raphael, resting her chin in the palm of her hand and blowing her hair out of her face.
Raphael: Raphael hadn't exactly been sure what to do when Branwen told him that they should go see a movie. Not only that, but... it was just very odd that she would want to go see a movie at all. Still, he wasn't going to turn her down or anything, she was a nice girl and it would be completely out of place for him to refuse her. If someone asked him to do something, chances were that he would do it. He was just a nice person like that, he supposed. He had just himself appropriately, casually. A pair of dark, dark jeans and a button-up with a loose zipped up jacket over it. Now all that was left was to wait.
Dusty: The ancient vampire fiddled with the fraying edges of her shirt. It was an old black tank top with some white writing and a logo of a brand of smokes that had gone out of business ages ago. She wondered if maybe she should have worn something a little nicer, but then this was supposed to be a surprise on both parts, now wasn’t it. She looked up again and spotted Raphael. At least she was pretty sure it was him. She had to remind herself that he looked different now. She didn’t completely mind, though she had to admit she’d been rather partial to his previous vessel. She thought that was what they were called anyways. She sighed, an unnecessary but habitual thing, and got up. She approached him, smiling her usual smile and tucking a strand of her straightened hair behind her ear. “Hey Raphael.” She greeted, “How’re you?”
Raphael: The angel's head turned when he heard a voice call his name, blinking in surprise when his eyes roved around and landed on Dusty. That was hardly expected. He blinked, tipped his head to the side and then smiled pleasantly to her. Maybe she was meeting them here. Maybe it was coincidence. "Hello," he said in his usual, happy and gentle tone. "I'm tired, I must say, but not bad... I hope I find you in good health." He paused, considered it, and then asked. "Have you seen Branwen?"
Dusty: She couldn't help but chuckle. "You'll barely find me in any health I'm afraid." she informed him, looking slightly amused in the way he had stopped to think about what he'd just said. "I have not, unfortunately. I find they've left it as my duty to tell you Branwen isn't coming. Her and Zee..." She waved her hand, "Brats, the pair of them. I expect it from Branwen, but that brother of yours is such a child." She laughed a bit and offered him a ticket. "We can still go see a movie however, if that is all right with you."
Raphael: He blinked once or twice, still failing to catch on that the entire thing was a set up, and then shrugged very slightly, as if indifferent if Branwen was attending with them or not. "A movie would be nice." He said with his usual smile. "What are we seeing, though?"
Dusty: "I'm...not sure. Zee just gave me the tickets." She looked down at the ticket in her hand and let out an unamused sound. "Azrael, I will kick your butt." She grumbled. Of course he'd do this, that was the sense of humour he had, wasn't it. "We're seeing Daybreakers it looks like."
Raphael: "Daybreakers," Raphael repeated, still blissfully unaware that this entire thing was a setup. What did he have to suspect her of, after all? He smiled. "Please, lead the way. I've never been to a theatre before... Not one of these newer ones, at least."
Dusty: "Really?" She asked, looking mildly surprised. But then, he was an angel and didn't always have to be on earth. "No worries. They have changed a lot. I remember the first theatres. And movies. Oh...Frankenstein, what a show to see." She chuckled. "Did you want anything to drink before we go find seats?"
Raphael: "I don't generally experience thirst or hunger." He said with a bit of a smile, tipping his head to one side and then glancing away again, eyes searching the drinks and popcorn and everything. "I would have offered something, but from I know, you're like me."
Dusty: "I do experience thirst and hunger, but in a completely different way." She said, once more laughing a little. She didn't mind talking about what she was. At heart she, as were all her kind, was a killer. But in her old age she tried to be less of that, taking only what she needed to survive. And from the colour in her caramel skin, it was evident she'd already had her dinner. "But I do like the taste of things, so I still eat and drink. It's a novelty I just never tire of. But for tonight, I think I am fine." She nodded and casually hooked her arm around his so she wouldn't lose him in the crowd and perhaps lead him to where they needed to go a little easier. "This way," She hummed, nodding towards one side of the theatre that lead down to their particular cinema, pausing only to give the poor teen stuck working her ticket for him to check.
Raphael: Raphael looked mildly concerned that he had now messed up twice on trying to converse with the other. Still, the look was only present for a moment or so before he let it slide off of his face and turned to follow after Dusty. He couldn't grasp why she would even want to go see a movie with him, let alone grasp the fact that this was all some sort of a set up. That was beyond him, so far past his knowledge that he wasn't even aware that blind dates existed or that he could possibly ever be set up for one. "what... is this movie about?" He ventured to ask after a moment, tipping his head this way and that.
Dusty: Dusty didn't mind in the least. She was bound to slip up when it came to trying to figure out his species at well. She only know the lore of the angels, and that was vague at best. They entered the theatre and she paused to search out a couple of seats for them. "Vampires," She replied, letting out a short laugh. "Zee's choice, of course." She spotted a pair of seats for them and pointed them out before leading the way. "Now don't take everything you see to seriously, we're a rather diverse species."
Raphael: "Oh, of course." He said with a comfortable smile. Smiles were something he was good at. "I find that movies do an awfully poor job portraying angels sometimes, as well." He said, lightly touching her arm as he moved to step out of the way of a few teens giggling hysterically as they ran up the aisle. He glanced to the side, then dropped his hand and continued following her to their seats.
Dusty: She nodded. "I've seen a few movies, read a few books. But before you and your brothers here, I haven't really taken the time to know angels." She took her seat and leaned back, crossing one leg over the other. It was just a few of the advertisements playing so far. She looked over at Raphael and smiled. "So, just out of curiosity. You know Branwen, you know how she can be, why would you agree to come see a movie with her?"
Raphael: He looked to Dusty. The question seemed like an odd one to him. But he wasn't (nor could be considered) normal. So he just smiled and then replied back with. "Because she asked me to." It was the same with his faith, really. If someone was asked of him, he would do it. "I would not refuse her when she asked so kindly. I thought she had pure intentions and it seemed proper to accept the invitation..." He was still smiling, oblivious.
Dusty: Dusty stared at him a moment, contemplating before she laughed a little. "You're so oblivious it's kind of adorable." She said. "Zee roped Branwen into his big scheme of trying to get us to go on a date. You didn't know that?"
Raphael: Raphael tipped his head to the side and he frowned. The thought seemed to sort of start him out of a strange daze he had been in. "No.. I didn't know that." He commented, looking away, thoughtful now. "That... can't be true. I doubt that they'd do that."
Dusty: Her smile faltered a moment before she looked at the screen, sinking in her seat just a tad. "Yeah, they couldn't possibly." She muttered. She wasn't sure why she felt so scorned by his words. Did he not want to be on a date with her? Even just as friends? Perhaps this was just an inconvenience to him. It wasn't that she wasn't used to the treatment, most people avoided her company simply because of what she was. But she liked Raphael, he was nice and didn't seem to mind her company too much. Perhaps she'd been mistaken, and that made her feel foolish.
Raphael: The angel smiled slightly, apparently still unaware that he had made her feel uncomfortable. His pocket buzzed slightly and he pulled out his phone, glancing it over before keying in a few words. After a moment or two, he received another text and, frowning, he passed it to Dusty, holding it up. "Do you know what this means?" On the screen, sent from Zee, were the words: Well thank god. The social flailing was starting to worry me. Pay no attention to the bushes.
Dusty: Dusty looked over the text before chuckling a little. "I dare say he might be spying on one or both of us." She handed the phone back and shook her head. "He's such a crazy little thing."
Raphael: "He is." He murmured as he glanced away, looking nervously over his shoulder and into the audience, wondering where Zee could be hiding and why he would be spying on them. "Well..."
Dusty: "Don't worry about him," She said, resting her hand on his arm reassuringly. "Just let him have his fun. He's not hurting anyone...I don't think." She added, looking around quickly.
Raphael: Raphael glanced at his phone again before sending another text and then moving to slide his arm away from her touch. For a moment, it seemed as if he were hesitating, keeping to himself. But, instead, he slowly draped his arm over her shoulders, looking away.
Dusty: Dusty seemed momentarily surprised by the action, not having expected it. But she laughed lightly and leaned into him slightly. "You can tell your brother he needs to stop spying. You also don't need to do what he tells you." She figured it was Zee's doing, since Raph kept getting texts.
Raphael: The archangel laughed slightly before looking back to her, his face still suspended in that naturally happy state. "At least it's keeping him amused." He remarked, looking satisfied as he glanced down at his phone, which seemed to have quieted itself.
Dusty: "This is true. I suppose it's better than him going out and picking fights with people like he tends to do." She'd had him come to her crying on a couple of occasions, the big suck. Though she couldn't help her motherly tendencies. She grinned at him before turning her attention to the screen as the lights dimmed and the movie previews started.
Raphael: Raphael smiled again before moving his arm away, feeling rather awkward for having held connection with her for such an extended period of time. He didn't like having contact like that in general, but at least it kept Zee quiet.
Dusty: Dusty felt the opposite, or at least different. But, she was an affectionate person and tended to touch people a lot, hardly ever realizing if it made them awkward or not. She hadn't minded the contact, she actually enjoyed it. But she didn't protest when he pulled away, it just didn't seem like him to have done it in the first place. Of course she had to resist touching her arm to his on the arm rest, not sure how he'd feel about it.
Raphael: Raphael concentrated on the screen the best that he could. Knowing that his brother was watching them made him feel all sorts of awkward, but that was the point, he supposed. He wasn't sure why they had set him and Dusty up on a date, wasn't even sure that Dusty wanted to be there with him. Hell, he wasn't sure why anyone would want to go out on a date with him at all.
Dusty: Dusty watched the screen for a while, the moving colours, the bright lights. But Finally she had to say something. She turned and leaned in close so Raphael could hear her. "You need to relax Raph, you're making me all sorts of anxious with those vibes coming off you." As a witch, one of her specialties was reading, or feeling auras. And when people around her tensed up, she tended to as well.
Raphael: Raphael started slightly. He was already on edge as it was and being spoken to only made it worse. He was trying to enjoy the movie, he really was, but it was just overwhelmingly awkward. He turned to her when she spoke and then smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, I'll try to relax."
Dusty: "It's alright." She paused for a moment, "May I see your phone?"
Raphael: He blinked and then nodded, passing it over to her slowly, watching it go as he did so.
Dusty: "Thanks." She said, taking it and looking down. Her fingers moved so rapidly over the keys, it was a wonder the phone registered what she was typing. She waited a moment for the reply and chuckled, handing the phone back to Raphael. As she did so a very distinct shape with what seemed to be glowing eyes stormed down the stairs and out of the theatre looking very huffy about being caught.
Raphael: "..." Raphael smiled very slowly to himself as he took his phone and sent one last message, telling his brother to take care. He slid the phone back into his pocket after turning it off and then settled back into the chair, sighing slowly.
Dusty: "You just have to be firm with children, show them who is in charge." She said with a soft laugh before turning her gaze back to the screen. Sure, Zee was technically older than she was, but she still considered him a child. He certainly acted like one.
Raphael: Raphael smiled and nodded in agreement. If anyone was a child, Zee certainly had to be a child right along with them. He was, perhaps, the most childish person or angel he had ever come to know. He settled back into the chair again, finally relaxing, his energy ebbing to a soft lull.
Dusty: Dusty managed to finally relax, now that Raphael was able to. She let out a content sigh, leaning towards Raphael without really thinking about it. It was just easier for her to stare up at the screen without getting a pain in her neck.
Raphael: He didn't notice that she was closer, but yet he felt the pull and urge to move in a way that made him closer to her as well. It was nice, something in his subconscious told him, and he enjoyed it.
Dusty: The movie held most of Dusty's immediate attention, her mind a whirl of that isn't right's and this is ridiculous'. But she supposed she could see the logic in some of this movie. Though the film makers completely ignored the existence of other creatures. She had finally decided to let it go and just enjoy the movie the best she could when something on the screen jumped out and startled her, causing her to jump as well.
Raphael: Raphael's attention was held sufficiently. Throughout the entire thing, he paid an amount of attention that might have bordered on unhealthy, but tried his best not to appear completely drawn into the film. He was always eager to absorb information, so this was a plus. But he found it strange and reminded himself repeatedly that certain aspects weren't true Whenever Dusty would jump, he would jump in turn and then glance quickly to her, smiling nervously.
Dusty: Dusty would glance at him out of the corner of her eye, slightly amused that he would jump when she did. She figured the movie would be ending soon, and she wondered what would happen then? She hadn't been on a date in hundreds of years, things had changed. And Raphael had never been on one to begin with. Oh well, they'd get over that awkward bridge when they came to it.
Raphael: The angel caught Dusty's gaze at one point and, rather than grin or lunge in for a kiss or something a more normal couple would have done, he stared back, eyes waiting, patient. It was as if he expected her to say or do something extraordinary. And, just when the gaze and silence was probably bordering on uncomfortable, he looked away, cheeks tinted almost unnoticeably.
Dusty: Dusty wondered if he was waiting for something. He was just so awkward and adorable she didn't know what to do with him. She leaned over and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, it seemed to be what he was waiting for. And then she settled back into her seat to watch the last few minutes of the movie.
Raphael: Raphael remained mostly still for the remainder of the film, though it was clear that he wasn't watching it, not really. It was just something else to distract his gaze with until he was more comfortable around her. Once the movie ended and the credits began rolling up, he sighed, glanced quickly to her, and then away again. "Well," he commented as the rest of the theatre began to rise around them. "I'm certainly glad that you are nothing like that."
Dusty: She chuckled and nodded. She didn't think she would tell him about her younger days. She was a bit like that. A bit worse, having strong magical powers on top of the vampiric ones. "Yes, well. It would make blending in a little more difficult." She said with a light laugh. "Mostly fledglings are that violent, and only without proper guidance. Plus I don't think any of us would turn into those...things...when deprived of blood."
Raphael: "I would hope." He said quietly as he stood up, watching the majority of the theatre file out before glancing back down to Dusty, extending his hand. "I'll take you home." He said in his clear, soft tone that suggested nothing but the purest of innocence and desire to guide.
Dusty: "How sweet of you~" She hummed, smiling as she stood and took his hand. "Will you come in and say Hi to Noxy maybe? She likes you," She said with a light laugh, grinning at the other. Unlike other vampires, her fangs didn't retract fully. She hoped her fangs, however short at the moment, didn't put him off after the movie.
Raphael: He smiled, not at all disturbed by her fangs when he had the perfect knowledge that she wasn't like those they had seen in the movie, she was so much different. "Of course. I would be delighted." There was a moment, drawn in like a sharp gasp, and they were gone, anyone in the theatre oblivious to the disappearing act. There was another rush, like wings flapping, and then they were at Dusty's front door, Raphael's arms had somehow wrapped around her in the process and it appeared that his wings had done the same, though they retracted and disappeared much too quickly to tell much of anything regarding them. He had been keeping her safe, of course, giving her a more enjoyable flight experience. He was staring down at her, intently now. "I'm sorry if that was uncomfortable for you."
Dusty: "Oh!" She gasped in surprise as they were suddenly whisked away, but when they landed on her doorstep, she simply smiled at him. "Not in the least." She told him pleasantly. "Thank you." She pulled away from him, keeping his gaze for a moment before grinning and turning to the door. She pulled out her keys and went to unlock the door, finding it actually unlocked. "Hmmm, that's...weird." She muttered, pushing open the door. "Noxy? I'm home." She called into the house, stepping inside and then beckoning Raphael in as well.
And then cut to the scene where Noxy goes missing and Dusty panics and more adorable!Raph happens.
