My compliments to our delightful radio host who articulated it so succinctly and eloquently~ A visit from the spawn of a long-dead god who lies dreaming, slumbering, waiting at the bottom of an unknown sea; some even say they are a herald to his return. According to Lovecraft, that's how the Elder Gods worked. By moulding people's dreams. Maybe it's a self-creating mythos.
