☾dreams the forty-fifth

Winter to spring to tropical summer skies; such a swift transition of seasons we've had in the past week. Almost illusory; ephemeral. Fitting for a City that calls and releases souls from the great multiverse at a whim, a place where hitsuzen still holds court, but haphazardly and with even less concern for those it touches than usual. Sustenance?

Noun. The means of sustaining life; nourishment. A means of livelihood.

A world does not live long beyond its people, of which this City draws from other dimensions.

The meaning of the word is simple enough, but what makes you think that this place uses organisms for sustenance? By very nature, it is organisms which consume resources.

Surely you don't believe the relationship to be so one-sided, Doctor?

[He frowned down at the device in his hand before typing out "I'm coming" into it. This wasn't something he was looking forward to but he had already told himself he'd do it. With the best quality of vodka he could find in hand, he made her way to her shop stopping just short of the door.]

Blood and bloody ashes...I said I'd do it.

[Grumbling, he walked inside and looked around.]

[She's sitting in the centre of the room, the only one in her shop that her clients see, clearly waiting for him. She rises when he enters and smiles in greeting.]

Ah~ Mat-kun. Welcome to my shop. Sit down and make yourself comfortable, and then we can start on business~

[Taking a deep breath, he nods to her before moving forward and taking a seat like she asked. Then he holds out the vodka to her.]

Here. It's the best money can buy.

[Eyes light up at the alcohol, but she maintains professionalism and accepts the bottle with only a slight nuance of her playful grin.]

I have no doubt, and we shall partake of it together after we conclude our business today. In a toast.

[she sets it aside and then turns red-gold eyes back on him, smile once more that of the Witch rather than the woman.]

Now, you had a wish. A potential one.

I feel that even if this place really is a dream (especially because I don't really understand everything. C-Curse-san can be a little confusng, demo..) I still treasure the friendships that I have made here so far. They feel very real to me...so, even if this is just...something like a dream, I don't want to let any of those warm feelings go.

It makes me glad that you feel that way, child.

It's a little sad though, to think that I've been here once before, and don't really remember. I know I'm not the only one though! It's not just me to have forgotten. Maybe there is a way to bring those memories back, too. I think I am starting to ramble...

Oh! My name is Tohru Honda, by the way. I didn't mean to forget to introduce myself. It's nice to meet you.

You as well, Tohru-chan. You can call me Yuuko, Ichihara Yuuko.

I found myself in the same situation when I first arrived as well. However, hitsuzen works in strange ways; it is best if we adapt and make the choices we are given to make, ne?

It is easy to forget, too, that for some this is the only world that they may call their own anymore. If one cannot live in the past or future, then the City, dream though it may be, is in fact the only reality.

No, Clow, it is too easy to forget that this cannot be reality. The dream must end at some point, even if the decision to remember the dream is still ours.

All dreams end, Yuuko, regardless of which ones we arbitrarily label "reality".

Arbitrarily? Labels, as words, are what you make of them, yes. Yet you know as well as I that this place is not meant to be labelled a "reality".

Sustenance...This is one thing I have not been told about yet.

You believe strongly in hitsuzen, though?

wishyuumay July 31 2008, 20:43:49 UTC
Not in the literal, biological sense, of course.

I am aware of it.

eastern_magic July 31 2008, 20:46:34 UTC
That is a mild relief. I have seen such a thing before.

For one to be aware, one must believe.

There are such worlds, but thankfully, this is not one of them.

Is that so? There is no need for belief if the entity in question exists outside of belief.
