Robert Downey, Jr., I Forgive You

Once upon a time, I smuggled fudgy brownies and a candy necklace into a dusty second-run theater for a viewing of the latest Robert Downey, Jr. film, a little something called Restoration.  It was also the occasion my ex-boyfriend chose for me to meet his new girlfriend, a recovering anorexic.  I had also just been dumped by a different ex, who was ( Read more... )

A zippy review, as always, Wissky!

And to think that this DVD is sitting atop my TV right this moment... and I decided to watch When Will I Be Loved tonight instead. Don't ever go near it! I can't believe it was 100 times worse than I thought.

And after listening to 2 minutes of the director's commentary (looking for some explanation!), I will never, ever watch another James Toback movie again.

Thanks, Melty.
KKBB really is a good way to spend the evening with friends. Since you haven't seen it, I'm glad I didn't include spoilers, most importantly for any of the jokes. I could have gone on and on, the way the imdb web site has 5,000 quotes from it, but you just have to watch it.

I tried to watch some of the commentary, and Val Kilmer is by turns funny, but mostly irritating. Even RDJ takes the piss at times. I will point out that Val Kilmer is *still* not forgiven, for many things. He is quite good in this, but his list of sins is too long.

I just checked out James Toback on imdb. Not very impressive. I saw half of 2 Guys and a Girl a long time ago, but couldn't finish it. Despite the rimjob. Natasha Gregson Wagner is/was a talentless hack. Hello, nepotism.

I actually enjoyed Two Guys and a Girl, but otherwise he's awful.

Can't wait to see KKBB.
