I just watched that new show Scandal, and I rather liked it. Sure, most of the characters were bland, and the writing wasn't uniformly great. But it still sucked me in, especially one particular scene that almost made me want to write fic (though I doubt I ever will). Kerry Washington is fabulous, isn't she? you know I know about this show only because tonight's ep was directed by Paul McGuigan, who directed 2/3 (that is, 4 out of the 6) episodes of the BBC Sherlock. Based on his work there I'd give anything of his a try (altho OK I forgot about this tonight).

So, you know, there's some pedigreed history there, I guess?

Yeah I liked it too, a very fast-paced and stylish pilot with some promise (and that aspect you want to fic over, which I believe I know what it is, heh). Foxy. I'm a tad worried that: 1) future eps that are not written by SR or directed by PM might lack a sustaining flair; 2) this subject might not be deep enough to sustain my interest past a few more eps. But they are certainly trying to work the half-serialized/half-episodic storytelling that marks all of the Shondaland Empire... hope they can sustain...

Haven't watched it yet but it's on the DVR. I like Washingon and Cusick (and Rhimes' shows, to some extent), which is the main reason I'm giving it a try, and now your rec helps too!
