Maybe my summer project should be to take one of my old fics, run a find/replace on all the character names, and publish it. The smuttier, the better, even though I've never been all that great at smut. Who cares if it's any good? At least Cassie Clare seriously reworked the Draco trilogy before publishing it as her Mortal Instruments series. Although the plagiarism involved makes it a wash. . . .

Heh, I've seriously been thinking about doing the same thing. I read two or three chapters of 50 Shades on Amazon, and it was brutal. Awful. I just can't get over its popularity, smut or no smut. It's got the Twilight magic...even if it's black magic.

I did take it as inspiration, figuring if anything that awful could do so well, there was no excuse for me. So, I'm working on a mainstream book.

Although I always thought I should do something with my old stuff.

Seriously, I don't get it. I can't even. It just pisses me off when I see so many awesome fanfic writers who deserve to be published and instead this awful thing does and it becomes a best-seller! What's wrong with the world?
