I'm both surprised and not by the people shouting that this was the worst episode in ages. Whatever. It might not have been ah-may-zing, but it was damned fun to watch -- maybe because all the characters were having so much fun. :)
Finally saw the ep. We now know the answer that has puzzled Egyptologists for the past century or so - what happened to Nefertiti *g* (amazing how welll she spoke English too)
I also like River Song as she's one of the rare females who can stand up to the Doctor and I certainly won't mind seeing more of her. I would've let Solomon die too (my pet peeve about the old "Lost in Space" series was that I would've thrown Dr Smith out of the nearest airlock the second time he tried to hurt someone by his greed or lust for power. That they kept him around and he kept betraying them over and over again just infuriated me).
I think the irredeemable bit for Solomon for the Doctor and me was when he started talking about the "rare item" or whatever he called Nephie. I think both the Doctor and I thought he was talking about the TARDIS so when he reveals it's the Queen of Egypt the disgust on Eleven's face is elegant. Subtle for him too. Solomon referred to her, repeated, as an 'it'. She wasn't even a living being, just an it and his delight at the promise of "breaking her"? Yeah, no way the Doctor lets a person free in the universe like that.
