Vid Notes

I finished this only last night. And I don't think I'll regret posting it so soon, because this is the first video I had a beta on. Okay, not so much a beta--big sister drove 45 miles to smack me around about it. She's done it before, but mostly just on the level of telling me if it was GOOD or not. I made her answer *questions* about it this time, and look at different versions (it was mostly done when she got here, but I could tell it was missing something), and I tried to tempt her with Seth/Ryan fanfiction, but she would not be moved. She wanted to see the finished version before she crashed. Which just makes me kind of sniffly, because big sister loves me. /sugary-sweet moment of introspection/ Anyway, the final version is... she got everything from it that I wanted. Maybe you will, too.

This is Seth wanting action in his mundane life. This is Ryan wishing for some peace. This is Ryan and Seth in love. This is bigotry. This is how they do controversy in the O.C. bitch. This is... kind of meta, actually. I don't think I'd recommend it to someone unfamiliar with the source, because a lot of things are about context (the burning house, Donnie, "yo, why's that guy in prison?" --- stuff like that) but if someone proves me wrong, I'll happily eat my words. It was more accessible for a general audience before my sister told me what was missing: intimacy.

The thing I'm finding I love most about vidding is that I never get tired of it. The more I do it, the more I *want* to. The more often I vid, the more confident I feel in the final product, even if, um, it's only a week after my last final product. Yeah. People probably pass over my stuff thinking, 'eh, must be garbage, she posts so much' --- well, I can hope it isn't. I feel like I learn something new with each video. Er---sorry, back on topic, this video; I was telling gravi_girl123 that this is my Ryan video, even if it's technically Ryan/Seth. This is how Ryan struck me, early season one: very messed up, very lonely, and very, very in love with Seth. Re-watching the episodes from that time *killed* me with love for him. I think I'm back in the right mode for O.C. again. I was knocked sideways mentally for a little while there, but---hey, fandom is love, too. Fandom doesn't have to be scary. *Waterpolo* players are scary. That's what this video taught me.

I had some issues with the title, as some of you know. At the beginning it was titled 'Spin' after a section of song lyrics, and Seth wanting his world shaken up, but that only told part of the story. Eventually, after some discussion with friends, I settled on 'Queer', because it was less offensive than my first choice, and it still kept with the narrative.

I also had some issues spelling the title, if you can believe it. For some reason, it looked uneven without an 'e' on the end, and I kept trying to put it in, and my sister kept making me take it out, until finally we went to dictionary.com, and oh, yeah, it wasn't spelled wrong after all; I just have my brain tilted a certain way
