Brief Video Notes

I really went for a character study perspective to Roy/Ed, focusing on what drives them individually, what drives them apart and brings them together. Making this was difficult at first. Roy/Ed was not my pairing of choice before I began it, though I had no distaste for it. Through clipping and re-watching, I began to understand the pairing, and more than that, appreciate it. No, erm, I might look for a fanfiction or two. Damn you, Sweet Charity! I began the video (well, the notes/planning for the video) believing I was going to go for a linear perspective, thinking that I would follow the chain of events that happened in the series, but after listening to the song more and more, it began to feel very impressionistic to me, like a lifetime of waiting, of moments of stillness, of memories, mixed, slightly with this odd connection between them. And that's how my understanding of the Roy/Ed relationship then evolved. There's this comment Roy Mustang makes to Edward in episode 13: "Full Metal One, why not settle down for a while?" At that point, I don't see anything romantic between the two, but I think the seeds of attachment are there, be it a romantic or a more platonic relationship. It's important to Roy that he take care of Edward, so much so that he isolates himself from the world and from his alchemy abilities when he's not sure if Edward is alive. Edward's feelings are, for me, harder to decipher. There's so much he's devoted to outside of Roy, and more than that, he spends a lot of his time resenting his position as Roy's subordinate. So yeah, I think my opinion that Edward isn't sure what Edward wants comes through in the video. I hope.

I've always been nervous about how a video is received. I'm more so with this one. I'm happy with it. I love it. But I've never done *anything* with anime before, and I worry that maybe I'm just blinding myself purposely. Hopefully that's not the case.

Will do mostly anything for feedback.
