I can't help but think no one is going to watch this, but I had to do it anyway, mostly for myself. I live for a challenge.

Living Room - Tegan & Sara
My windows look into your living room
Where I spend the afternoon on top of you
I wonder what it is
That I did to make you move in
Across away from me
I hope I never figure out
Who broke your heart
And if I do, if I do
I'd spend all night losing sleep
I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind
Well I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind
My windows look into your bathroom
Where I spend the evening watching
You get yourself clean
And I wonder why it is
That they left this bathroom so unclean
So unlike me
I hope I never figure out
Who broke your heart
And if I do, if I do
I'd spend all night losing sleep
I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind
I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind
I'd spend all night losing sleep
I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind
If I spend the night then I lose my mind
Well I hope I never figure out
Who broke your heart
And baby if I do
Well I hope I never figure out
Who broke your heart
Baby if I do
Well I'd spend all night losing sleep
I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind
If I spend the night then I lose my mind
Spend all night losing sleep
I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind
If I spend the night then I lose my mind
Spend all night losing sleep
I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind
If I spend the night then I lose my mind
Video Notes:
a) I've come to the conclusion that I'm a glutton for punishment. On the one hand, I've finally gotten to make a video to this song, which has been a favorite forever. On the other hand, in order to use it, I vidded a sitcom. A sitcom, people. The only other person I've seen do this well is
proofpudding, though if anyone knows of any other good examples, feel free to speak up. I've vidded difficult sources before (RPS, SGA), and I won't say this one was the hardest, but it does presents it own challenges. The show itself, while delicious and funny, has no long-reaching arcs; the POINT of this show is Derek and Casey and how they live with each other, and if you'd ask any one of the creators of the TWO THOUSAND VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE BASED ON THIS SHOW, they'd say the point is also how mad they are about one another. On top of that, the key friends of every vidder: variable locations, camera movement, and interesting footage, is not really there to be incorporated --- though much more so than most American sitcoms. Most of the movement comes from the characters themselves, which I was prepared for, because my SGA video had that type of editing involved. I nearly orgasmed when I discovered camera pans in a couple scenes.
b) The quality of source also irritated me. I used what I could get my hands on, and don't get me wrong, I'm truly thankful I managed to get my hands on it (pretty hard show to get a hold of), but I wish I could have gotten some HD stuff, as the video suffers from some degradation that I had to soften with blur overlays. I did what I could with what I had. It does make a difference to how I feel about this video, but I'm trying to get past it with my sheer love of the chemistry between these two characters.
c) At first I didn't have the audio overlay between 1:50 and 2:06, but with the pacing of the song, the clips had to be longer and despite my best efforts, the whole section felt flat, and... well, the video IS a look at Derek's feelings for Casey, right? How Casey is trying to adapt and Derek has his own agenda. I can't help but hear, from those words matched with those clips, exactly who Derek believes is right for Casey -- himself. I feel much happier with that whole section with Derek speaking over it. It makes a nice lead-up to the climax of the video, while at the same time giving the audience a chance to breathe and take everything in. Or so I'm hoping.
d) The goal of this video, I guess, is a very simple one (I seem to be in that mode lately), and that is to showcase Derek and Casey's world as they revolve around each other, how Derek is completely obsessed and Casey possibly just as fixated, if a little more determined to break the habit. Anyone else is a blip on the radar. If I were to put it in a category, I'd say it's an argument video, preaching the gospel truth of the focused paring.
e) What else? Um. Coloring, yes. Went with a blunted golden/red on this one. I didn't have to, the show's coloring doesn't change very much throughout, but with the necessary blurring, I thought it would make for a nice hue and spice up the source a little. After all, there are a million Derek/Casey (Dasey) videos out there, so changing things up is an absolute must.
I still can't believe I vidded a sitcom. Do I hate myself? I need therapy for the aggravation alone, not to mention the deep-in-my-soul TERROR that this sucks.
That's all, folks. Feedback is awesomecakes.
