Hubby is going to have knee replacement surgery in 2+ weeks. Need any hints. Am moving a bed downstairs. Getting a high toilet seat with handle bars to hold on to. Getting a walker. Will have a bag or two attached to the walker to carry things. What am I missing? What will make the home life a little easier during recovery? Unfortunately,

Also get those using-the-walker muscles in shape now. Ask him to make a sandwich while using a walker, and bring it to the living room. It'll force his arms/back to get used to the strength and balance needed with a walker. Much easier now than after surgery.
Try a few stairs. Learn to negotiate them now. (No, I'm not asking him to climb stairs. I'm asking him to learn to negotiate a few up or down steps/curbs withe the walker.)
and finally, he's going to need a whole new vocabulary when he meets his physical therapists. You know the vocabulary...the one that makes sailers blush!
