A friend of Miles' gave us some purple potatoes so we had them for supper last night. I was expecting them to taste more like sweet potatoes but in fact they tasted fairly normal. (I think they're the sort that blue tortilla chips are made from).
The water I boiled them in turned green which was very odd.

Blue tortilla chips must be made from blue corn, no?

I had blue potatoes once. It was a really surreal experience, because as you say they just taste like normal potatoes - but they were the wrong colour.

of course you're right - blue corn. Miles was talking nonsense and I didn't think to question...

We had purple/blue potatoes in the U.S. one time, and they were different to (from?) ordinary potatoes, but blindfold, you would know they were potatoes, maybe new ones?
