The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.

Look at the list and bold those you have read.
Add * for books you have not completely read
Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've only read 6 and force books upon them

I seem incapable of bolding works I've read. Suffice it to say that's it's about as many as you, but Quite different!

Very odd list. Why no Pilgrim's Progress, for example? Or Milton? Macaulay? Two of those three are childhood favourites of mine. (I concede I might be odd). What about Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, which I learnt to read from? Instead, there's a definate excess of Austens and Brontes.

Harrumph.

it's a crazy list. Too many very new books (like the Lovely Bones) which will surely soon be forgotten. And not enough real classics
