The Best Gift Of All
“ I’ve finally managed to find you a suitable present Draco, you’ve no idea how hard you are to shop for,” Harry entered the dim room, carrying a box low before him like it was heavy. Christmas morning enveloped the couple, and Draco couldn’t wait to unwrap his last present, but Harry insisted he saved the best for after all the others were torn open. The second they were done he’d scurried off into the bedroom to gather one last gift he’d hidden, claiming it was so that Draco couldn’t shake it.
Draco’s body was thrumming with excitement, the box Harry carried was one he didn’t have to unwrap, all he had to do was lift the lid and there it would be; all laid out, no fighting for it or anything, Harry knew him too well.
Harry sat carefully beside him, keeping the box in a firm hold on his own lap. His eyes were glittering behind his glasses and Draco felt something was off. Harry’s Slytherin nature usually came into play when his eyes danced like that. Reaching forward hesitantly, Draco lifted the lid of the box off and flung it aside, never looking away from Potter’s devious daring eyes.
Finally with a last blink he cocked his head and beheld his gift. Blinking dumbly for a second he didn’t really understand what was going on, that wasn’t a gift- but he was already grinning at the offer.
“Oh, well, it’s not very big…” Draco earned a cuff on the head for his remark. He flinched and smirked up at Harry anyway.
“ Aren’t you going to play with it?” Harry husked, “ You did with all your other gifts, you don’t want to make it feel left out,” Draco smirked wider reached into the box and took a hold of the gift.
“ Actually, I was thinking of returning it, see, I already have one,” he said innocently as Harry’s eyes closed of their own accord.
“ Well what’s it they say, two heads are better than one?” Draco snorted, seeing Harry had opened his eyes again and was joining in on the smirking. He handled the package a little more before coming to a conclusion.
“You know, I’m thinking I’d like to play with this gift if the bedroom,” Draco tugged and they both rose to their feet. Harry grinned on last time.
“ It’s magic you know,” he added as Draco had the decency to look a bit surprised as they stumbled to the bedroom. “ It levitates on it’s own,” He demonstrated taking his hands off the box and pulling Draco in for a smoldering kiss, the box still suspended between them.
