Spell #21

I do believe this 'Halloween' has to be one of the most useless not to mention tiring tradition I have ever heard of. Surely costumes cannot be a matter of utter importance the number of posts made as of late suggest. Surely someone must be seeing the sensible side in this.

this is absurd

I can give you a lot of adjectives that characterise all of this: ridiculous, annoying and childish.

You forgot utterly pointless.

People need something to do so they won't be bored, apparently.

And reading books simply will not do.

It's so fun!!! Why don't you like it?

It's utterly foolish.

We don't have anything like this in my world and it seems strange to me. I'm not sure if I will be going to the party. Fujiko said something about the "perfect costume" for me but I don't know.

It looks utterly pointless. You can always arrive without a costume.

I'll think about it.

And tell me, how are you faring, master Haru?

It is merely an excuse to dress up in a way you normally do not. The fact that it only comes around once a year makes it that much more... "important" to people, I suppose.

I suppose the logic of it is beyond me. Will you be dressing up too, master Japan?

Yes, I will be, Elphaba-san. Is it safe to assume you will not be?

What was your choice of costume?

I shall come as myself, being green is more than enough of a costume.

It is not about being important, ma belle; it is about being fun.

My, such an odd thing to do for entertainment.

Will you be taking part?

I suppose it would depend on the person. You should give it a try, though; you could enjoy it.

Why, yes, of course. Masquerades have always been a tradition in France.

What shall you be going as? Or are you making it a surprise?
