i think that's, in a way, an even more amazing compliment to the writer -- when something makes you cry with its wholeness & emotion, but you can't simply point out what it was. ...for me, at least in part; this poem makes tears in my eyes because of how beautifully mark doty describes details and small intimacies; and in doing so, creates this poem that encompasses mortality & the gift of life.

which has been so much of what my past 3-4 years have been about; finding peace and beauty in the details, facing mortality head-on. this poem isn't my story or really even close when compared, but still, it strikes chords up&down my spine.

oh, oh, ooooooh!
and don't worry -- i certainly don't care if it takes you awhile to send me something -- just the fact that you are is so kind! ha; besides, you can ask nearly any ( ... )

sweetness,

you thank me for being there, but i want you to know, too, that i always offer my love -- open arms, ears, heart, spread palms if you need them to clasp -- because it's instinct. natural. because of how much you mean to me.

so, you're welcome... but at the same time, know that it's a gift to me also, to be able to share hearts with you. and thank you for what you entrusted me with. it means more than i could properly explain.

love,
robin

p.s.:
it makes me smile that i'd have known that message was from you, regardless. the map of your sentence, the ring of tiny back&forth code words we know by heart.

well, that and the fact that the signature kitty ears gave you away! ;)

Very, very, very glad to hear that it got through. I worried for a moment or two, only because the postal service has eaten up some important packages of mine in the past without a trace... but this post makes me smile with relief. Keep that nest warm and take good care, bird of a feather.
