Week 3 is normally when the First Squad gets at least half a game to start gelling as a team, but several teams this year elected to give more field time to the second and third strings, to try and make sense of their depth charts

The 49ers offense played poorly today, as they generally do in preseason. Things are not "clicking", as Kapernick said. The defense, however, looks fine, despite losing Boone at RG.
Did you see that the Rams QB, Sam Bradford, tore his left ACL again and will probably out for the entire season?
I did indeed see the Bradford injury, and he has been written off for 2014. I'm fairly sure that draws a line under his career, because although he is obviously very good, you can't take two years out and expect a franchise to stay in waiting. Fisher has a year off too of course - because whatever happens this year can be 'blamed' on the absence of Bradford.....
Rams look sunk before Week 1, although the obvious move might be Sanchez - but I'm not sure he'd be upsides with the system, and thus not sure to get them to the promised post season land.....
As to secret skills - I'm getting most of this from the NFL site, and from the local news threads. I tend to watch the highlight reels with the sound switched OFF so I can make my own calls......
SF always seem to need the pre-season to get themselves sorted, but they have recently hit the deck running, and I suspect they will click - new staff place new emphases, and the QB is still growing.
