Hello? I think I'm doing this right. Although I'm not really sure that I believe that other people will really be able to read what I'm writing as if by magic. (Is it really not magic? Because I just don't see how that can work.) And it seems like a very complicated way to try and talk to people. It's like someone's tried purposefully tried to make ( Read more... )

Signing your name works best I think.

And for me, the BBS system is a little strange, I'm more used to den den mushi which are a direct one person to another line of voice communication. You get used to the BBS quickly though.

So I can just put 'Merlin' all it it's own then?

What's 'den den mushi'? Is that something to do with computers too?

Yes.

Den den mushi are psychic snails. With a little bit of machinery, people use them to send audible messages.

...Let me guess this straight. You world has psychic snails, and you turn them into machines and use them to talk to each other?

You're doing it fine! :) It is pretty complicated; it's a lot simpler when I'm from. You kind of get used to the technology (not magic) and the weirdness here after a while.

Do you have computers where you're from too?

I almost wish my uncle Gaius were here. He'd love to see all these things done without any magic.

Yes, a lot more advanced than the ones here. It makes me wish my old history teacher could see this!

What's magic like on your world? Is it used widely? [Or so she's guessing, judging from the mentions of it instead of machinery.]

The ones in your world are even more advanced? (Does that mean they're more or less complicated?

Magic isn't used much in Camelot at all - any use of magic is banned, on pain of death.

Yeah... it's totally not magic. Ever heard of electricity?

Like in lightning? What does that have to do with these?

It's what makes these things work. The technological stuff. Where the fuck did you come from, middle Earth?

These computers run on lightning?! How could that even be possible without magic?

And no, I'm from Camelot.

I think you're doing just fine. Computers can be really tricky even for people from this world. So don't worry about it so much, I'm sure you'll get the hang of everything soon enough!

My name's Rinoa, it's nice to meet you Merlin. I take it you're new to this school? If you ever need any help, just let me know. Since I graduated I've had a lot more time on my hands.

Chocolate milk is really good! I think you just mix milk with some chocolate and there you go. I've never actually tried making it before, but I might have to try sometime.

Yes, I'm new. Hardly been here a week, actually. I don't know if I'll ever get the hang of all this though.

That at least makes more sense then having it rain from the sky. While inside. I'm not sure I could trust chocolate milk that came from a raincloud.

I think everyone says that at first, and then before they know it a year's gone by! I'm sure you'll do just fine.

I'm not sure if I'd trust chocolate milk from a raincloud either. I didn't even know things like that could happen!

You've been here for years?! Exactly how many people have ended up here that long?

I'm pretty sure they're not meant to be able to happen.
