a spicy dinner with sirius.

With Sirius Black (sonofthestars).
Follows from here.Lily had returned from her walk to the Thai resturant located somewhere down the road ten minutes earlier. She was in her small kitchen, placing the bags on the counter. For the moment, she's walking over to the cupboards to grab a few plates and some cutlery. She places the cutlery on the table and leans ( Read more... )

[By the time training is done for the day, Sirius is hungry and tired and can't wait to get to Lily's. He Apparates home only to change, wash his face, and pick up the movie for tonight, before floo-ing to her flat.]

[Compared to this afternoon he just looks tired and he has a couple of burn marks on the side of his neck where he'd gotten hit with a stinging hex during dueling practice. The burns had been healed, but there is still a mark that lingers on his fair skin.]

Lily? [He spots her in the kitchen,] What are you doing?

[Lily jumps slightly at the sound of Sirius' voice. Placing a hand on her chest, she smiles and breathes] Sirius! You surprised me.

[She places her nearly empty glass of wine on the counter and walks up to him, dusting off his shoulders.] You have floo on you. [She grins] I was waiting - [His neck. She stops dusting off his shoulders, taking a few steps back. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she tries to sound casual] How was training?

I'm sorry to keep you waiting... I needed to go home to get the film. [He lets her go about dusting the soot off him, and he looks surprised when she pulls away. That's when he realizes she's looking at his neck.] Training was long... we had pairs dueling this afternoon.

[Lily nods, trying to understand - though she doesn't. She can't understand what "pairs dueling" entails as she's never experienced it. What she doesn't like is that Sirius has been hurt - and from the looks of it, perhaps badly. She's not a healer - nor does she know whether something is truly 'bad' - but from her perspective, any injury is a bad injury. Trying not to lose her temper over the situation - not because of Sirius and his stupid loyal tendencies - she speaks slowly, her tone lower and softer] Are you alright? [Feeling slightly guilty that perhaps Sirius is here because of her instead of resting at home, taking care of himself, she speaks quickly] You didn't need to come. You should be at home resting.

[He can hear the disappointment in her voice, and he understands it because he'd felt the same in the beginning... but on an Auror-in-training's salary, he couldn't afford anything more than that. As it was he was stretching it because the exchange rate from galleons to Muggle currency was heavily weighted in favor of the galleon right now. If that changed, Sirius doesn't know what he would do.] No, I have the top floor bedroom so we share all the common areas. She doesn't go all the way up very often because of her knees, but I don't doubt she'd be up to check on us if you came over.

Well, I'm glad to hear you're not couch crashing. Because if you were, I'd be incredibly hurt. I have a rather fantastic couch. [She leans up slightly to see their legs before lying back down] I think it's long enough for your bloody long legs. [She smiles, giving one of his legs a light kick in jealousy. Lily's only ever lived at her parents' house or the flat she currently owns. She doesn't know what it's like to rent out a room of someone's place. She finds herself interested in what the experience is like, but doesn't wish to pry too much. Though, in regards to Ms Peterson, Lily's curiousity is bubbling uncontrollably.] Do you two get along?

[Sirius takes advantage of Lily's shifting and kicking to entangle their legs and turn a bit himself so he's propped up on his elbow, looking down at her.] If I was couch crashing yours would be my first stop, Lils.

[He doesn't mind the questions... in the time since school ended he's taken out rooms in a number of places, some nicer than others. His current place with Ms. Peterson is in the 'nicer' category.] Ms. Peterson isn't too bad. She makes great pies, and I listen to her blather on about her grandchildren, so she loves me.

If you ever need a couch to crash on, mine's always yours. [Teasing] For a price, of course.

She hasn't tried setting you up with any? [She grins, wiggling her eyebrows] Since she loves you so much. [Laughs. Teasingly] I'll have to tell Mum that she's gotta ramp up the pie making - she's losing her only customer.
