I know you all LOVE to have hot women who can whoop ass in your movies. Many men have the fantasy of "taming" a female "beast" of a woman ( Read more... )

How about this one? A woman kicking ass while wearing six inch stilettos?

I agree though about Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor AND of course Linda Hamilton because when I saw T2, all my friends and I were like, "we'd better hit the gym 'cause I want to look like THAT."

Worse trying to have women RUN in heels. The only one I EVER saw doing it WELL was Joanna Lumley (later to be Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous) in The New Avengers TV show. And heffa was BOOKIN' in them stacks!

Amen to all of this. I might also point out that it is VERY HARD for women to develop "those icky man muscles" anyway without permanent dedicated athletic training or steroids, so even chicks that look remotely competent weilding weapons aren't going to be all that bodybuilder-esque. I mean, look at Angela Bassett's arms in What's Love Got To Do With it? I know I'm not alone in wanting to gently pet her biceps.

Strong === sexy. I know this, you know this, and you know what most men know this too. Hollywood needs to get with the program.

This is true. You need testosterone to get those big, bulky, manly muscles, so most physically strong women are not going ot look like Vera De Milo from In Living Color.

I'mma still be needin' Hollywood to quit tryna convince me that chicks whose limbs look like reeds can weild tree trunks like Babe Ruth can a bat.

Seriously. I mean, I'm sure one of the Williams sisters is bored now that it's all winter and shit.

Gina Torres pointed this out in a podcast she guested on recently. I never thought about it before. I suppose that's why my favorite pictures of chicks with guns are Zoe from Firefly and Starbuck from BSG.

Not only that, but what about the practice of having actresses who look about 16 playing FBI/CIA agents who've been on the job for 10 years?

Yanno, I've done archery. I still do though I really need to practice a lot more. And let me tell you, it's hard as hell to pull a kid's bow if you got no upper body strength. And we're talking a 10-15-20 lbs draw weight. I'm only up to pulling around 40 comfortably (meaning being able to draw the string to it's proper length and hold it long enough to site up the target before releasing) and that's because I've been doing exercizes for my arms, chest and upper back for about 3 or 4 years. I'm sure THAT was a big reason I've been able to pull up my draw weight abilities. So I can't take seriously some lil bit of a chick that's supposed to be pulling friggen longbows (which START at 80-100 lb draw weight) in period or fantasy pieces.

Other examples:

Sigourney Weaver- Alien Movies. Chick had biceps that rivaled Hamilton's.

Angela Bassett- Strange Days.

Chyna- WWE diva and former intercontinental champion. She gained mainstream appeal in her prime and did like two Playboy spreads that broke sales records. So this crap that men don't find muscular women attractive is a crock. Same could also be said for popular wrestlers Victoria/Tara and Beth Phoenix.

Marjean Holden- She's been in a ton of action/sci-fi films and is an accomplished martial artist.

Gina Torres- As another commenter mentioned.

Uma Thurman- While she's very thin, she was toned to the core in the Kill Bill films, and as someone who studied martial arts for many years, I was able to believe that she could kick ass.
