Life is beautiful

Dad doesn't like his new place - and they think he's hard work. We are about to experience the stuff that you read about in papers. He has advanced dementia, but is very fit for his age. Most people who have this level of dementia are a lot more frail, and therefore, easier to keep under 'control'. (I hate that word.) If they decide they can't keep ( Read more... )

It's always such a relief to finally have a REASON for health issues, isn't it? (I hope prescription-strength iron supplements are smaller in size in Oz than they are in the US -- Mom and I have joked about having to "chew nails" for years now, the dang things are such huge tablets. But, they certainly make a tremendous difference.)

Sympathy on the "Dad" situation. Watched my folks go through an similar experience with my paternal grandmother, so I'll definitely keep the positive thoughts flowing in your direction.

And, DOUBTFIRE! How cool is that? (Frelling cool, that's how cool...)

Always good to hear what's new on your side of the planet! :-)

I had to chew nails when I was pregnant with #1 son, but enjoy rude health for the most part. Still waiting to hear from gyny - not relishing the options. Chemicals or surgery.. hmm.
Dad seems to be settling down, or maybe he has just moved to the next level. Now it just seems to be a question of keeping him comfortable. Even family gatherings - like my son's engagement party - are really out of the question. Could be worse.
Apart from all that - life IS beautiful, I am very lucky. Australia Day here and there are a few token flags, but mostly people just enjoy the day. Cricket is going well - sold out - hoping to beat the Indians. It would be nice to think we could pop along and see the little master before he retires. (Sachin Tendulkar - second only to the Don amongst batting legends.)
Thanks for the good thoughts - I love positive energy.
