Does anyone have any advice on keeping close contact with someone outside Hogwarts during the school year? When the pair I'm trying to keep tabs on are Muggles and can't participate in spells to help

You know, I never asked, but maybe they'd be allowed to have journals like the ones we have? They wouldn't be able to do the spell to make entries private, but it'd help you keep in touch with them.

That is actually a very apt idea. It never occurred to me they might be able to use the same means we do in school to communicate.

I should certainly ask the headmaster if this would be allowed, and if I would have to keep a private circuit with them to protect what my peers' say in their journals, but it's a fair notion.

Things have been looking up these last few days, and that's more than I could have expected.

But there's a man called Count Olaf that might attempt to hurt my sister while I am away. Having contact with our guardian would help assure me she is alright.

The Floo network can be a handy way of staying in contact with someone. Do they have a fireplace there?

You are right. I may need to establish a connection still to be made aware when I need to come, but that will help once I know.

Though, once they start traveling... Would Floo work if I know who I'm look for, but not where?

That is another good possibility.

I would have to find a way to cast it and maintain it regularly, but once I am back at school, perhaps I could throw something together. Perhaps with a physical base...
