The New Improved Survey of Doom

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Short and skinny

2. How old is he?
Fifteen and counting

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He carries himself like any proper samurai should: up straight and tall.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He's physically fit, but prone to colds. He has a serious case of insomnia that tends to leave him sleep most of the time.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
A bit clumsy, but his motions in battle flow one into the other from years of practice.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He's got a cute face that puts him a bit above average, but he's quite convinced- with some encouragement- that he's an eyesore.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Rather pale and clear- if you're looking at his face. The rest of his body is covered in bruises and scrapes.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
A pale, cornsilk blond with a down texture. Except for the small ahoge in the back, his hair tend to hang down.

9. What color are his eyes?
Like his skin and hair, his eyes are very pale with a blue color. Because he has partial heterochromia, there is a yellow spot in the bottom corner of his right eye.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Other than the yellow spot in his eye and his incredibly short stature? Not much.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
Lewl what? Um, I have no idea what this means so I'll... get back to you on that?

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Seven, actually. He usually wears some type of sweater, usually a thin gray one he seems fond of and long pant with sneakers. Occasionally he'll wear shorts if the heat gets too bad, but very very rarely.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
All his clothes range from a bit too bit to a lot too big and show signs of amateur hemming or having the cuffs rolled up on a regular basis. His sneakers are a little too small and are beaten to hell from constant use. Running around in his cousin's hand-me-downs isn't exactly a hobby, and his shoes pinch his feet, so no, he doesn't seem comfortable in them at all, but he deals with it.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
He doesn't have a job, but at school he always wears a clean uniform that fits properly and has all buttons fastens, ties tied, shirt tails tucked ect.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Women's underwear. He wears briefs, the kind that come in packs of ten or more.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
A little deep, but he's still a pre-pubescent boy so his voice can still pass for that of a girl.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
He speaks easily, in a confident manner regardless of the situation or how he's feeling expect on very rare occasions. His voice is always at a steady clip, closer to fast than to slow.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
He absolutely cannot pronounce any foreign words and tends to convert them into engrish, there by mauling most words to the point where you have to think to understand them.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Japanese, fluently because it's his first language and English, but just enough to get good grades, and not enough to communicate or speak it properly.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Nope. Japanese all the way.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He's great at making things up on the spot, unless he's talking to someone he absolutely feels horrible lying to, which is only one person, really.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Eloquent. He's a playboy, so he tries to make what he says sound nice and does a damn good job of it. In regularly speech, he isn't much different, just he doesn't try to sound like such a casa nova.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
He's a very smart cookie and a fast learner. As a matter of fact, he did so good in homeschooling that, even though he lives in Japan, he was put ahead a grade in school. From wandering around the streets on a nightly basis, he's gathered a feeling for what to do and what not to do, though he's street smarts are lacking quite a ways in comparison to his book smarts.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He thinks on his feet and can come up with plans on a moment's notice.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Logical and practical. If he needs to cross a rushing river he starts with what's in place already, what does he have around, and what the people he has with him are capable of. And then he sets about the task after formulating a plan of action. He has a habit of getting stressed over the smallest of factors, however. For example, if he has to paint a piece of paper green with a red dot in the middle, he'll spend his time stressing over the fact that he has no red paint instead of putting down the green paint and worrying about the red later.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
He was homeschool for most of his life, but his uncle switched him to online homeschool when he moved in with their family. For his second year of high school, though, he was switched to a public school.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
He knows a lot about ancient literature, at least the fiction and myths. He also is quite skilled with a swords, making him an expert on the subject. Chances are, if it's old and out dated, he can tell you a thing or two about it.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert, or at least he pretends to be. Really, he just wishes he could crawl into a corner with the one or two people that care about him and let everyone else go on their merry way.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
He's a sad person in generally, but always shows the world a smiling face unless he's tired. If you get too close to a touch subject, or harm someone he feels close to, he'll get angry like most guys would. When he want something done, he makes a plan and does it, with no intention of stopping till the job is done, even if it means heavy self sacrifice.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
If it's a bride worthy girl, he flirts. If it's a guy, he tends to be sort of shy but tries to be friendly. If it's an older male, however, he'll be timid and is suspicious towards any friendly adults.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Act. If he's going to do, he's already put a plan in place and made moves to get it done.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
It all depends on the situation. If it's a battle scenario and he has he swords available, he'll fight down to his last breath. Flight would make a mark on his honor, so he wouldn't dare. If it's a case of general abuse, he'd just take option three- curl up in the corner until his attacker left him alone.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
He's very used to pranks and can appreciate the humor in them, as long as they aren't too malice. Bathroom humor, dirty jokes and anything relating to pop culture tends to fly right over his head, however.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Insomnia, if that counts as mental. He takes sleeping pills, but they aren't so effective anymore and he doesn't always have time for a full night's rest so he tends to skip his meds and just take massive amounts of caffeinated beverages instead. In general, he doesn't deal with it, he deals with the consequences of not dealing with it.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
The spiral of events following his parent's death. Because of this, he was forced to learn how to take care of himself as well as deal with a hostile environment, hence why he can smile in the middle of a serious battle. This also lead to his insomnia and desire to have an heir as soon as possible, hence his playboy attitude and sleepy nature.

14. What does he fear?
His uncle, to lose his siblings permanently or lose his right to be heir of the family. If either or the last two happened, he'd probably deal with it by just killing himself.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
To retake his rightful place as heir to the family and make his home

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
That his uncle is an abusive shmuck that uses him like a punching bag and encourages his aunt and cousin to do the same.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
They're dead, but he got along very well with both of his parents.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
He has three little siblings that are very precious to him and that he loves more than anything else in the world. He'd do anything for them.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
He hates his uncle more than anything else in the world, and doesn't really like his aunt or cousin. His aunt by blood housed one of his siblings when their parents died, so she's on his good side and he's happy with his other uncle for taking in the last of his siblings even now.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
He considers Morizawa Chieko as the old sibling he never had and treats her as such. She's like a big sister to him, and is the only person he properly confides in.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Yoshimi doesn't have any best friends, but he gets along very well with Fukudera Shinobu.

6. Does he have other close friends?
Mik-kun[Michelle B-something] is close to him, considering that a vast majority of the world is strangers to him.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
He tries to be friendly, but most people usually don't warm up to him and end up not talking to him unless he starts the conversation himself.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Family, of course, because it's a case of honor. Besides, family to him are his siblings whom he loves very much.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
He's single, but hopes to marry soon so that he can produce an heir as soon as possible.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
He has no spouse. Yet.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
He doesn't really have crushes, he just flirts with any girl he wouldn't mind marrying...

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Someone good at cooking, cleaning, sewing etc. who can also entertain guests and has a good head on their shoulders. He doesn't want someone he can push around, but someone who is equal and understands that the man is the head of the household. But that's just marriage. His ideal romance, something he doesn't expect to ever achieve, would be with someone tall and strong- preferable the quiet type- who would give him plenty of hugs and kisses and protect him.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
None, but he's currently questing a son. In the long term, he'd like to have lots of children.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
He considers Yukiko a rival, but it's sort of a one-way thing. Anyone who gets between him and his quest to find his sisters is an enemy. His uncle falls in the enemy category, simply because he generally ruined Yoshimi's life.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
He's a six, but wouldn't dare let anyone know. He functions as a zero and is intent on wearing that mask.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
He needs it to have his heir, but he's not just about to have it out of wedlock, because then the baby would be illegitimate and that would threaten his viability as an heir as well. With guys... he's never had a boy friend, but as most people are physically much larger than him, it's a scary possibility. In generally, the whole idea of having sex is kind of nerve-wracking to him, but duty it duty and his is to make an heir.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Acts of kindness and broad chested guys. He likes 'em strong. Turn-offs... anything distinctively feminine or any sort of violent tendancies. It's not that he hates girls, he's just not attracted to them.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
He's born December 23rd, so that puts him as a Capricorn, which is a feminine sign. Kinda funny for him... His sisters fall under the ram, and with capricorn being the goat, the irony level rises to over nine thousand. From the list I found, the positive traits match, but not the negatives. The likes and dislikes [likes history and dislikes being alone among the highlights.] fit almost perfectly.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Not in particular. He believes in what he believes in.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
But of course. He upholds a rigorous set of standards similar to the basics of the samurai codes. No sex before marriage, honor your family, don't flee from battle- the basics.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
He's a little curious, but more so indifferent. Unless it comes to moral codes. If your beliefs are something in strict contrast, he might comment or complain, or just straight up not like you.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He does his best to accept everybody, as he expects everybody to accept him.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Rich. Quite rich, actually.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
An unchanging upper class.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He lives in a large traditional Japanese home that is very well kept. Growing up, it was a happy place where he spent almost all of his time with his mother, father, and three siblings. More recently, after returning to the home years after his parents died, it's become a crashing-zone for him that'd he'd rather not have to stay in long if at all. He lives there with his uncle, aunt and cousin now.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
His missing sisters, mostly. All of his allowance except for spare pieces of change he piles together gets charged to their phone so they can always have something to call home with and can get food if they ever need it. What he keeps goes to buying coffee so he doesn't pass out in the streets after long nights in the Underside.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
He's a student right now, so he doesn't have to earn his own income.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
He adores kendo and reading, so his spare time is spent either practicing or reading. Spare time is rare for him, though, since he's almost constantly out looking for his sisters.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He absolutely will not eat green bell peppers. They both disturb and disgust him at the same time, so he completely avoids them. Yellow, orange or red bell peppers are fine, he just doesn't like the green ones. Yoshimi often skips meals and actually winds up eating very little. He's usually not around for breakfast and doesn't hold onto enough of his allowance to buy lunch. Dinner tends to be a miserable happening for him, so he doesn't get to eat much then either. He never gets a chance to eat out or drink, but if he did have access to alcohol, he'd probably wind up drinking it on occasion to drown out any particularly bad pain, sorrow or lack of sleep. His eating habits are tidy and neat with not a grain of rice put waste.

Associations
Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is his favorite:

1. Color? Blue; a calm color that can represent sadness but can also be very bright.
2. Smell? Smoke; he likes the smell of burning wood, and that smell that seems to cling to the clothes of people who smoke tabacco. He's no pyro, just those scents make him feel secure.
3. Time of day? Night; he's almost always out at night and does most of the exciting things he'll ever do at night. He kinda hates sunlight, because it means warmth.
4. Season? Fall; then he can wear all the covering clothes and not heat up too fast, nor freeze to death due to a lack of a proper coat.
5. Book? Yoshitsune & Benki; if the story involves them or just Benki alone, he'll read it no matter what it is.
6. Music? Tango! Thank Chieko for that one, but he likes that sort of upbeat music because it makes him feel happy.
7. Place? Shade; he likes to hang out in the cool grass beneath the shade of large trees. It's peaceful and is a little corner of the world away from every one else.
8. Substance? Nonbenzodiazepines; a.k.a sleeping pills which take a longer time to build a tolerance to.
9. Plant? Grass; it stays cool, it's cushy- what more could you want from a plant? Simply and functional.
10. Animal? Birds; they're free and have no attachments to anything on the ground, the way Yoshimi wishes he could be.
