I really liked the following (I'll give you fiction first):
[x] Any Human Heart - William Boyd [x] Restless - William Boyd [x] The Unthinkable Thoughts of Jacob Green - Joshua Braff [x] The Killer Angels - Michael Shaara [x] The Last King of Scotland - Giles Foden [x] Things Fall Apart - Chinua Achebe
Here are non-fiction titles that I've liked:
[x] Democracy Matters - Cornel West [x] Race Matters - Cornel West [x] Bono: In Conversation - Michka Assayas
I'm sure there are more I'd recommend, but I can't seem to think of them now. :/
HOW DO YOU LIKE ECLIPSE? I haven't started it yet. I kind of want to reread the first two before I read it!!! Catch-22 by Joseph Heller was really good in my opinion and I thought it was very funny in a smart way (it was clever i mean). How old are you? MIRANDA JULY writes really good short stories and you should read her new book, I thought it was very funny as well. I have so many books to read!! I am reading Dave Eggers right now. I'm not sure if I would suggest it yet. I'm not done. Other suggestions would probably be Kurt Vonnegut and William S. Burroughs! Oh geeze. you go to Harvard Summer SchooL??? wow.
I'm about 3/4 of the way through Eclipse right now and it is the very definition of pleasure reading. I needed for my brain to deflate a little after my summer at Harvard. I still have one more year of high school (I'm 17), but I took classes through the summer school program they have. It was pretty much the best experience ever, but I digress...
I really need to read some Vonnegut and Eggers. Oh, gosh, and Catch-22. I've been wanting to read that for a while. It's good to have so many suggestions! Thanks! :)
Dude, 90% of those books you listed are on my "to read" or "have read" list. TWINS! 4SRS. Right now I'm reading The Catcher in the Rye, The Unbearable Lightness of Being and also Twilight on audiobook. Up next for me is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Lolita!
