Untitled (working title: Four-Square) (aka. One Time KinKi Kids Do Their Senpai Duty)

G; ft. KinKi/Tegomass; 818 words
Written for the
senpai/kouhai anonymeme and also with one of the prompts at the
TxT/KK Ficathon in mind. Cleaned it up a bit from what I posted at the meme, but got lazy halfway (surprise surprise :x) so it's not as cleaned up as it could be, lol. We'll see if I end up submitting it to the -thon or not.
Tegoshi feels trapped between a rock and a hard place.
If he looks over to his right, he can see Tsuyoshi and Masuda gleefully picking through pairs of rainbow-spotted knee-highs. At the moment, Masuda is holding up a pair for Tsuyoshi to scrutinize, explaining that they would go well with his oversized alien t-shirt and blue track suit.
"Maa," Tsyoshi murmurs contemplatively, "those are okay, but how about this pattern instead?"
He holds up something garishly pink and purple and fuzzy, and Tegoshi hurriedly turns his eyes back to the simple black beanie he's holding in his own hands for relief.
On his left side, from the corner of his eye, Tegoshi can see Koichi pacing back and forth with slow, deliberate steps, hands clasped behind his back. He’d tried to engage his senpai in the shopping about an hour ago, when Tsuyoshi and Masuda were still on the hats, but Koichi had simply given him a blank stare in response. Then the pacing had commenced.
Tegoshi sighs and moves inconspicuously towards the back of the store.

Masuda knows he’s found heaven the moment he ducks through the low front door of the hole-in-the-wall gyoza restaurant. Tsuyoshi explains, as the waitress seats them, that he’d only discovered this place a week ago as well, and he’d automatically thought of Masuda-kun when he came. The smell of the frying dumplings makes Masuda’s nose flare in appreciation and KinKi-san quickly becomes his number one favorite senpai group.
He doesn’t say a word all through dinner; instead, puts his mouth to better use steadily eating his way through three solid plates of gyoza. Tsuyoshi smiles indulgently at him and keeps up with Tegoshi’s constant stream of chatter with an amused turn of the lips.
Koichi doesn’t say much either, until the end of the meal when Tsuyoshi tries to exhort him to pay the bill. Then there is a lot of Kansai-ben flying through the air, and Tegoshi giggling behind his hand at the two’s antics.
“Anoo...” Masuda ventures, “I’m just going to the restroom.”
He stops at the cashier with wallet in hand to pay the bill, only to be informed that “Domoto-san paid the bill at the beginning of the meal already.” Masuda bows and thanks the cashier and flashes his best smile in her direction before wandering off, scratching his head in confusion.
When he gets back to the table, both Koichi and Tsuyoshi welcome him back with a smile, their verbal tussle apparently over. Masuda scratches his head again.

“Tsuyoshi-kun! Massu!” Tegoshi twists around to look at the two sitting in the back seat of the car. “Let’s take a picture as a memory for today, okay?”
“Eeh?” Tsuyoshi begins. He means to say they should wait until later, when they’re not in a moving vehicle, but automatically Tegoshi is tilting his head a perfect 45 degrees to the side, and pushing up his lips into a perfect and juicy pout that Tsuyoshi knows would be fatal to resist. A brief image flits through his head of a younger Tegoshi, with snaggle teeth and bad haircut, and he wonders what alien life form this is shimmering in his face now.
A glance to his side shows that Masuda is already posing for the camera (is that a flicker of resignation in his eyes?), so Tsuyoshi can do nothing but form a V with his fingers as well. Tegoshi cranes his head back and expertly captures the three of them in the center of the shot, crisp and clear and no motion blur.
From the driver’s seat, Koichi whines, “Oi, I’m part of this outing too! Don’t forget about me!”

Lounging in a dark recess of the cushioned bench in their karaoke room, a cold beer in his hand, Koichi feels highly satisfied. In the two hours they’ve been here so far, he hasn’t been asked to take the microphone once.
Not only that, they are proving to be a wonderful source of entertainment.
Currently, Tsuyoshi is being taught Tegomass songs by the younger duo and apparently failing to meet their standards.
“No no no,” Tegoshi says in an exasperated, superior voice, “You’ve got it all wrong, Tsuyoshi-kun. It’s a happy song, do you really have to make it sound so dark?”
“Maybe if you try gesturing a bit when you sing? I know I can never get the feel of the notes unless I move with the music when I sing,” Masuda suggests.
The look on Tsuyoshi’s face almost sends Koichi into convulsions, he is laughing so hard.

Extra Scene:
“Kou-chan!” Nagase bellows as he trundles into KinKi Kids’ dressing room a few days later. “No fair! You took Tego-chan out without me? My favorite kouhai?” He juts out his lower lip in a ridiculous pout.
“Don’t give me that face,” says Koichi.
“Tegoshi does it better,” adds Tsuyoshi.
