Old Souls

Oct 07, 2010 21:27

Is anyone of you people on my flist spiritual? Today I was told once again that I have an old soul. I do not really know what that means and I did some reading on the subject. And I wondered if any of you have any experience on this subject!

I suppose "old soul" can mean lots of different things. I was often told I had an "old soul" by teachers, but I think they just meant that I seemed calm and more wise than most of the kids. Silly that I seemed wise then, but not so much now ( ... )

Thank you for the long answer. The person who said this to me believed in reincarnation. I also think that if he should see me when I am clubbing with my friends he might have had a different opinion. Yet it is so strange that there are more people saying it to me, even people who never exchanged a word with me. :/

I grew up very religious so I really would not know what it would be like to live without it. I do not believe in reincarnation, but I do think that beside God, there is more between heaven and earth. That is however personal, and I rarely talk about it, I do not feel the need to have other people to believe what I do. There are also a lot of people around me who do believe in something, but do not feel the need to explore. And like you there are always people trying to convert them, while I as a christian never have athiest at my door trying to convert me.

Perhaps I just look old. :p Time for some anti age cream.

Well I'm an old soul, it just basically means that you have had some previous lives under your belt. It's really interesting after I did my Usui Reiki studies (I'm officially a therapist) we also did some in dept courses into reading previous lives, there's also a way to do this yourself. Sometimes I feel people are just saying it to seem interesting or deep ( ... )

Just people looking for meaning in your maturity levels!!

Not that I'm downgrading the awesome compliment you received, but, let's face it: ghosts don't exist, when you die that's it, and matter that's recycled certainly doesn't have "memory".

Lol. I do feel men have used it as a come on before!

If you believe that Einstein is correct, that time is basically a line not happening after one had ended but happening at the same time, you could argue that your past lives are in the now - just as your future lives - just like your present live, though we are unable to comprehend this it would be too much for our brain to process. So it wouldn't be ghosts, just flares of your past, present and future live shining through at times.

I don't think you quite grasp the concept of relativity ;) the space-time is warped, but you can't warp science to suit your beliefs.

I do understand it, I won't claim to do so perfectly, but since English is not my native tongue I'm struggling to explain it ;) I'm also not trying to warp science to suit my beliefs. I'm trying my best to write it down as it was explained to me :P but it was explained to me in Dutch and much lengthier, over a period of time. It's also been 7 years since then.

I have one motto, "Everything is now and now is always in the future".
