ooc: Thank you very much! That episode rather caught my attention because of the Kirk-Spock friendship being so strong, but we missed most the 'good parts' of it. It's kind of strange, but from what I've seen of TOS so far, Spock and Kirk's friendship is a very private one, especially screenwise. We get to see it secondhand- how upset Kirk was about the court marshal, their occasional quips on the bridge, playing chess, etcetera. But we don't get to see the first scenes, i.e., how they act towards each other when things are just casual and it's the two of them.

Dignity. Uh-huh. Yeah, they did a great job at that. Like I had to say to a friend of mine, I think dignity chokes and dies within ten paces of James T. Kirk... XD

Indeed. It almost comes to reason that he would have to soften up somehow when along with his friends, or at least Kirk. With Bones, at least, we get to see the bickering (which is totally friendship in action, what?), and the way that they go to each other to worry about Jim (and often promptly go gang up on him).
