Things had been rather quiet around Spock's room (almost too quiet, after the incident with Uhura), but inside, Spock was not doing near as well as he should be at this stage. When he sedated himself, he simply slept for an hour or two and then the adrenaline overrode it, nulling the effects. The mood stabilizer did not do much, either, though

Spock tried to meditate in bed, but that was not working well either. He thought to get another sedative, but his hands were shaking too badly and the part of him that was still logical and sane insisted that he did not have the dexterity to safely inject himself at the moment.

Maybe he should give up. Tell Leonard he was right. But the thought of him made him even more stubborn, determined to fight this. He sat up again, crossing his legs and trying desperately to find focus.

Spock stirred, sitting straight up when he realized what he had heard. He got up and stopped at the junction of the bedroom and the main quarters, slightly unfocused eyes watching Leonard. He could smell him from here, which caused the squirming, desperate animal self to fight even harder.
