There was the sound of Jim going "Whoa" in the background, which seemed to echo.

"Hi Bones!" one of the Jims crowed, waving his hand once he stopped staring at his counterpart, trying to trip him up with odd facial expressions. "Something's wrong with the transporter, as you can guess."

The little Vulcan, almost swimming in a black undershirt, turned to watch him with dark eyes, lips still sealed.

Scotty had been smart enough not to be there, figuring the Jims could explain it well enough. He was going to go try and fix the transporter before Bones fixed him.
