I know. :) The picture to me has an air of sadness ... the expression on her face as she opens and looks into the box ... I know this picture is a widely known piece of artwork by John William Waterhouse and has its own story about 'Psyche' ... but it's fun to look at it and imagine another story.
i had forgotten about this challenge, thanks for the reminder :)
it's a pretty sad piece, and an interesting interpretation of the image. the idea of ridding yourself of your burdens making you feel less than you are, is not an uncommon thing. the imagery you have used is feathery in my head, like the wisps of smoke of your deepest feelings in this piece. perhaps i'm not capturing the full essence of this piece this morning, but that doesn't mean i dislike it. it is very moving.
til next.... ~Kits~ (perhaps needs to wake up a little bit more)
I am a keeper of many secrets - mine and others - and it can be a burden. But at the same time, when someone entrusts you with their darkest and deepest secrets you become something more: a guardian, a gatekeeper, someone in the intimate circle, someone with greater responsibility.
So when you give up those secrets, you take away a part of your identity ... part of the structure you find yourself within. So, in a way, you become "lesser".
It's a concept I was playing around with in this piece. An experiment with ideas, so to speak. I like to think of things in a different fashion now and again. :)
I like this piece, it is an interesting look at secrets and how we keep them. I really like the way you portray your relationship with your secrets and the way you seem to feel a loss at pouring them into the box.
This is a Beautiful and tragic peice. I think you did wonderfully with it though. I know the feeling, if I let my secrets go, I think I would be distroyed. I let lots out here, but I have to keep some just for me too. =D Great job Suzy. AJ

I'm glad you found it moving. I wanted it to be.
