I smell the sadness on you again, it wafts from you like a tragic perfume.  Sad and beautiful that scent strikes me long before your in my sight.    Your form painted in shades of gray moves with beauty and grace.  A kind half-hearted greeting you speak although your words mean so little to me with your emotions painted across your very being.  ( Read more... )

Cara, I have a feeling you're a dog in this piece (and please excuse me if I am wrong) but smelling the scent, sitting across the room and watching and being the person's best friend led me to conclude a dog.

"Laying next to you I hope to share with you my empathy and understanding." This line stood out for me as I enjoy emotion in writing and this touched me. And for me, there are certain pets who can do this very well and do make their owners feel at ease or cared about in their presence. :)

No appologies necessary my friend you got it right. Someone on my journal asked if it was a cat, yes cats can be decidedly loyal when they choose but I was thinking of a dog when I wrote this! My dog used to come in and lay with his head on my injured knee after surgery so I wrote this while thinking about that I'm not sure why...

So sweet! Although now I have that "I will follow you into the dark" song (I forget who it's by...) stuck in my head...

I believe that song is by death cab for cutie now that you mention it... That song kind of does fit with this doesn't it? Ironically I was listening to the Beatles while doing this challenge...

Yay Cara! It's nice to see you back and writing again. I how you discribed the dog smelling the emotions, it seems approprate since dogs are so sensitive to this.
Great job Cara, I like it.

You really have captured that sense of "empathy" that a dog can have for that special human....very well written....for "soft" words have rendered such a strong bond.
