Thank you that means a lot to me. When I look at the picture for some reason I just see a slight undertone of unhappiness maybe it's that she's bent over, or the way she holds out her arms. There was a striking subtly of defiance like someone trying to keep the world away.
It's like I mentioned to Autumn above it seems sad to me. It's a bright colorful picture but it seems like she's trying to keep the world away. I'm kind of backwards sometimes...
Now these are lines written to be spoken, heard, and felt
The language is modern, yet the strength and sense of it are akin to the soliloquys of Hamlet and Macbeth
Any actor (male or female) could find a great deal to work with in these lines. I would love to hear someone with the strength of delivery of Cate Blanchett do these lines.
Thank you. I really enjoyed this piece the most. It was the first thing I wrote today and it turned out to be my favorite. That's interesting. Hum a voice post challenge would be fun. I think sometimes poetry and written words are such a different beast when brought to life and uttered out loud.
"No more do I desire wishes, no more fanciful, delightful whims. All dreams have finally gone from here, dissipating to nothingness before my eyes." I think you might have just won for best ending in a poem :>.
Your entire work is a really good interpretation for the picture.

I love the repetition of the lines:
"No more do I desire wishes,
no more fanciful, delightful whims"
in the first and last stanzas.
