I love the faerytale quality of this piece and I very much enjoyed the fact that you made the witch good and not the usual evil incarnate.

I love the ending line: "This is the tale of a golden prince who lost his heart and found his fate ...". Very nice ending, Cara.

In all honesty I'm not sure where I was going with it. It kind of took on a life of it's own and I tried to work the words in as best they fit...

If "it took on a life of its own" then a writing challenge such has this has succeeded.

If you were not sure where you were going with it.....if you feel there is something more yet to be explored....sometimes research into real world parallels helps give you another perspective of your own imagined characters....

If you find the chance, read the "real life" story of Justinian and Theodora....particularly the woman that Theodora was and her profound influence on realising the second part of your last (thematic) sentence...
