NAME: Liala Darcy
ALIAS: Lia
GENDER: Female
BIRTHDAY/SIGN: February 4th//Aquarius
BLOOD TYPE: B
AGE: 17
OCCUPATION: Junior in High School
APPEARANCE: Standing at about 5’5”, she’s neither too small nor too tall, but doesn’t quite fit into the ‘average height’ for her age. She’s rather thin, due to the fact that she doesn’t have much of an appetite and doesn’t eat very well. Her features overall are a bit androgynous, though there is a faint feminine grace in her movements. Her eyes are wide, adding to her absent-minded expression; the left one is a rich blue, while the right one is green. She keeps her dirty blond hair cut short, the feathery locks made to match her brother’s. Lia never looks very healthy, which is added to by her lack of body-fat. She bruises easily, and will sometimes sport several band-aids.
She prefers to dress in nondescript clothing, such as overly large sweatshirts and t-shirts. She does, however, like to wear girls’ shorts, one of the few points that can define her from Lio. Because he’s a bit taller than she is, and she likes to wear his clothes just to make things easier, they’re all too baggy for her save for the occasional pair of shorts or shirts that are actually hers. She doesn’t have any piercings or tattoos, though she was considering getting her ears pierced at one point.
LIKES: her brothers, Tai Chi, big sweat shirts, desserts, hot cocoa, math
DISLIKES: being babied or pampered, girly-girls, when her brothers fight, cleaning
PERSONALITY: Liala has a personality that makes it very difficult for her to stand out or be remembered. She’s constantly being overshadowed by her brother’s achievements, but she doesn’t quite seem to care. Even though she is really good in math, she doesn’t make an effort to have her skills go noticed. She prefers just to stay silently by Lionel’s side in school; because of this, she doesn’t have any friends, nor does she make the effort to actually try and make friends. As long as she has her brothers, she is perfectly content.
She’s a very kind-hearted girl who hates it when Rhys and Lio argue, because they are the only two people she has in the world and they are her world. Lia is the kind of person who likes to save little things if she knows they can be of use later-and more often than not, she can find a use for them. This has risen from a habit to pay attention to little details and appreciate the gifts that Rhys would bring them from time to time.
As the story progresses, her personality becomes a bit crabbier, much like a spoiled child who hasn’t gotten enough sleep. But when Lio would point this out to her (because Rhys only indulges her when she acts like that), she gets very upset; she starts to cry a lot more and a lot easier than before, which is very troubling to Lio. Despite this, she tries to be the level-headed and kind girl she used to be, but the disease starts to affect her personality stronger and stronger.
HISTORY: Liala was the third child of the Darcy family, being born several hours after her twin brother. The doctors at first thought she wouldn’t be able to make it after the birth, as her mother had been in labor a lot longer than expected after delivering Lionel-which caused them to be a day apart in age. But she survived the rest of the day, and then the rest of the week, and the Darcy family was able to breathe easily knowing that she would be okay.
However, Liala always had a very weak body, and so she was constantly protected by her two brothers. She looked up to both of them, and loved them both dearly. She was also spoiled by her parents, and often forced to stay inside instead of letting her out to play with Rhys and Lionel. Two months after Liala and Lionel turned ten, their parents died in a car crashed coming back from the station, where they had been dropping off visiting family members. Rhys finished high school and pulled out of the college he had been accepted to in order to take care of his siblings, refusing any help from both sides of the family. Lia and Lio did their best to try and support their brother, despite their young age.
It was obvious that, after awhile, Rhys began to favor Liala over Lionel, and her two brothers started arguing more and more. At the age of twelve, Liala decided that, in order to help them stop fighting, she would simply remove herself from the equation. That way, Rhys wouldn’t have to favor one twin over the other and Lionel wouldn’t have to be so defensive of her. She managed to make it out of the city and quite some distance before Lionel decided to run after her. Rhys was off at work, and so it was quite a few hours before he came home to discover that the twins were missing.
During that time, Lio had found his sister hiding in one of the smaller, abandoned cities in the Deadlands. Liala, who had always been confined while at home, was having the time of her life exploring the area - climbing over the broken ledges, poking her head into dilapidated forms that used to be offices or houses, and leaving no area uninspected. Rhys, panicked, arrived by car just in time to find out that Lia had slipped and hit her head while clambering over some rubble. He did his best to keep his younger sister alive, scolding Lio the entire time while they waited for the paramedics to arrive.
They took the siblings to Eminence, where Liala was treated by the medical company ALICE for a few months before she had recovered enough to be released. During that time, Rhys and Lionel had found a place to live and Rhys managed to get a job transfer to Eminence. The twins finished up middle school and proceeded into high school, and soon moved into their own apartment. It has been this way for nearly five years.
SPECIAL SKILLS: She’s really good at math, but because of her weak body isn’t too good at any physical activities.
OTHER: Because Lionel and her are so close, they often have that “weird twin thing” going on where they can finish each other’s sentences and know what the other is feeling.
QUOTE: “It’s not that I always get what I want… It’s just that my brothers anticipate what I want and get it for me!”
