Don't just stand there; do something.

Election day (in the U.S.) is a little over a week away. We have a chance at taking back Congress this year, but to do it we've got to get out the vote. Please, click here and pick a way to make a difference. Phone calls, emails, on-the-ground volunteering--it all helps.

If it makes you feel any better, my dad and I have both already voted. :) (I actually ended up with THREE absentee ballots, for some reason. Apparently, someone REALLY REALLY REALLY wants my vote. :) ) (Only sent one of them in, though. *g*)

And I think my mom is planning to help at the polls or something. My dad and I will still be in .uk :)

Go you! And that's particularly awesome of your mom. As for me, I know I don't do enough, but I feel like I have to do something. And if getting the word out gets one more person to volunteer, or send an email, or whatever, that's a good thing, right?

Yup.

Do you have a car? You might consider contacting your local Democratic party office. At least when I used to volunteer, they always needed people with cars to drive other volunteers around, particularly on election day when they'd have people watching the polls (to make sure things were being done properly) and so on. (Because they tended to not want people to take their own cars to the polling stations and use up potentially valuable parking places.)

I seem to remember also calling people up (this was before i could drive) on voting day if they'd expressed interest in assistance getting to the polls, but I can't remember if we actually sent volunteers with them or not. (Like, to help elderly/disabled people actually get there.)
