Oh, I may get in trouble for this, but I think it bears repeating.

apetslife said it first and best, but I figured it was worth getting up on my high horse about, too.

For all of us (yes, of course "us"; did anyone really think I wouldn't be going?) headed for Fort Worth in June: BEHAVE.Whether Jensen is a frail flower or not, whether you'll ever get to see him in person again or not, whether your mama raised you right ( Read more... )

Oh, man, do you think people will scream? *winces* I was just wondering what I'm going to wear. Should I wear something nice, because it's the theatre? Or should I not care, because it's Fort Worth?

I hope everyone will comport themselves like ladies (and the occasional gentleman), but there is always the risk of Fans Behaving Badly. I think Pet and others (including me) are hoping that being vocal about this before the fact might avoid a major meltdown during and/or after. A lot of bad behavior seems to stem from people just not thinking, so maybe a preemptive awareness campaign can do some good?

As for what to wear, you're asking me??? I live in LA, where people wear jeans to the symphony. I imagine a nice top and dress slacks are likely to be appropriate?

June in Texas. I am not wearing pants. Haha. It will be 100 degrees outside. But I think I could get away with like, flip flops. Hmm, yes.

Ahhhh, see, I'd rather wear slacks than a skirt pretty much any day. Though I should probably be thinking linen rather than knit.

and we don't own him, or any part of him.

Duh. He belongs to Jared. Obviously. *rolls eyes*

Do you really want Jensen's mother, or cousin, or best friend from high school to hear you talking about what he does in your fantasies?

He does belong to Jared. And Jared takes very very good care of him. *nods*

They wuv each other like whoa; it's wuv, twu wuv. :D

By the way, do you know the story behind the picture in our icons? Rumour has it that some fangirl asked Jensen for a hug outside the MTR, and Jared turned and said that he wanted a hug, too. I-- *flail* ♥ x bazillionty!!! I maybe don't even care if it's not true.

Exactly. *crosses fingers that everyone will behave*

Also, oh, man, icon!LOVE.

Makes me think of the Devil's Panties "pretty, pretty princess" strip, in an odd way. *goes to look for link*

Ahah! Two of them:

Dude, this was, like, the second thing that occured to me, right after "oh my god i want to GO".

I have Fear of the bad fans, dude. I mean, I doubt he'll totally rearrange his career because of fans, but at the same time, it might make him think twice about doing things at smaller venues and so on, and really, the place seems to be earning money towards a good cause. SPN fans should behave so they don't have to waste money on security to keep the screaming fans away, you know?

Also, if somehow I ended up there? Having paid for the flight and everying, and some dipshit fans were screaming so I couldnt enjoy the performance? I WOULD KILL. There would be bloodshed.

It's probably lucky I'm not likely to go. :)

Well, again, I'm hoping that a vocal campaign in advance may get people to want to play nice in the sandbox. Because let's face it, fandom is hugely peer-driven, so why shouldn't we take advantage of that, and encourage people to take on the responsibility of policing themselves and their companions? If people know ahead of time that it is Not Cool--in fact, the opposite of cool--to ask Jensen about slash, or grope him, etc., and that they'll be ostracized if they do it, maybe... just maybe... they won't do it?

Indeed. I'm so glad people who have some kind of presence in the spn community are saying things ( ... )

Hahahaha about the "some kind of presence," at least to the extent that it implicitly applies to me. But enough of that.

Yes, exactly, about the "not a fan event." (And about the decking someone who groped Jensen... but at least momentarily considering groping Jared.)

And YES there are not only direct, but nonstop (direct just means you don't have to change planes) flights between DFW and LAX--and they're pretty reasonable right now, too. You should be able to book a flight with a DFW stopover without too much trouble. (Please come!)

To Jensen, to the other theatergoers, to your fellow fans.

Not to mention the rest of the cast who will be working just as hard as Jensen. Live theatre is hard enough without having to worry about noise throwing you out of character.

I didn't mean to make that as wanky as it sounded, btw. It just concerns me a little 'cause I know how hard it can be :(

I didn't think it sounded wanky at all. It's a good reminder that Hello, there are more people involved in this than fangirls and Jensen.

As I said to Pet, big old word. It may be a shame that we have to think about this, but I'm totally on your side that it's better to have this discussion now so people are aware of it, rather than suffer the consequences later.

Plus, I think you stated it eloquently and inclusively. Thank you for that.

(We can totally squee amongst ourselves! :D)

Thank you! It would be nice if this were one time when I managed to express myself forcefully but not offensively! (And squeeing amongst ourselves is pretty much a requirement, I think!)
