9 - Pairings - For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?

Lord, why did I pick so many fandoms for day two?

- Bandom (Blink 182, GlassJAw, Weezer): Mark Hoppus/Tom DeLonge, Daryl Palumbo/Beck, Daryl Palumbo/Todd Weinstock. Mark/Tom was what I wrote the most of. My best friend at the time called me Mark and I called her Tom, and I'll let you put the pieces together yourself.
- Big Wolf on Campus: Tommy/Merton. Never before had such obvious HoYay! been spotted in children's programming.
- The Office (US): Pam/Karen forever.
- Ace Attorney: Oh jeez. Phoenix/Edgeworth is my bread and butter. I mean, you've played the games, you know what I'm talking about. And I've gone on about why they're one of my favorite ships in older posts, so I won't go on too long about that here, but their relationship has the potential to be so complex and intense, and it's easy to imagine all the different ways things might play out between the two of them. Add to that the inclusion of my favorite character to write, and it's no wonder I dig them so much.

If my word count is any indicator, it seems my second favorite pairing to write is Ema/Apollo. I've only written them for the kink meme. When it started, I had intended it to be a one-off; I needed a hetero couple for the prompt, and this was during one of the high-tides of the Ema/Apollo-hate. I thought they could be cute together, so I decided to prove it. I don't know if any one else was convinced, but I did manage to convert myself. I think they make good foils for each other, and I could see them having the sort of relationship I have with Sean.

I haven't really written too many other pairing as part of the central story for more than one fic. I really enjoyed writing my Ema/Maya fic, and I'm interested in doing more with them at some point. I also like Edgeworth/Phoenix/Franziska, with Edgeworth feeling attraction for both of them and Franzisak using Phoenix as a tool to manipulate Edgeworth. I desperately want to do something more with Impropriety, but it's hard for me to convince myself that Phoenix would be a willing participant in a long-term arrangement of that nature. I think he'd see what Franziska was doing and want to protect Edgeworth from it.

- Dragon Age: Anders/Hawke, because it is ripe for angst. Anders/Hawke/Merrill, because it is ripe for even more angst. And I really want to write some Merrill/Carver, because it's becoming apparent to me on my second playthrough that the boy is crushing hard.

10 - Pairings - Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

I wrote a Phoenix/Klavier piece for gyaku_flash. I'd never really thought about them together before, and it was a challenge to bring them together in a way that felt believable to me. It was fun, but also hard. I'm still not so sure I was successful--overall I liked what I wrote, but I worry still that it was too heavy-handed--but I could see myself giving them another go in the future if the right idea struck me.

11 - Genre - do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most?
Angst, I guess. Or like, family drama? I like watching characters reacting to and dealing with each other's issues. That's not always angsty, but it usually is.

It's funny, Sean and I have been talking a lot about writing a book together. We've been doing this editing project together, and we're of one mind about a lot of stylistic things, as it turns out. The thing is, I'm not so good with coming up with interesting plots. I was telling him that my fanfic is mostly characters talking and reacting to each other, without too much actually happening. And I think that's fine in the context of fanfiction, but not so hot if you're trying to introduce characters of your own creation and get people invested in the world you've built. I think I'm good at writing characters that feel like real people; I hope I'm decent at it, at least, because that's my goal in anything I write. It's the intrigue and action I'm not as good at.
